Excellent Quality Vertical GPU Bracket With Some Issues
Pros: The build quality is outstanding! The ability to tilt positions is a win Very secure and sag free even without the sag bar Nice RGB touches
Cons: Instructions were not thorough or easy to follow Installing the sag bar was almost unnecessary and installation of the bar was problematic The three screws to hold the bracket were so big the cover in the Phanteks Evolve X2 wouldn't fit. Fortunately, other screws fixed this. A little pricey. Gen 4 PCIE cable
Overall Review: Warts and all, I have really enjoyed my Phanteks Evolve X2 case, so I decided to take the plunge and splurge on the Premium Vertical GPU Bracket. The packaging was secure and presented the bracket and accessories as an item of this price tier should be shown. However, I have built over 500 PCs in my day and the instructions for this bracket were certainly lacking. After the first 20 minutes I literally tossed the instructions and winged it myself, finally completing the installation on the fly. Phanteks really should look at correcting this. The fit and finish of the bracket is outstanding. However, little details were surprisingly missing. The designated screws to attach the bracket had huge PCIE bracket heads so when I went to put the PCIE cover on, it no longer fit. How Phanteks could mis this for their own brand case is beyond me. I was able to find screws with flat heads which corrected this, but frankly I shouldn't have had to. The sag post to screw into the motherboard really wasn't needed as the unit is so sturdy, there is no sag on my Steel Legend 9070XT. However, I decided to try the sag post anyways just in case. What a nightmare! You need to remove the GPU on install and if you choose to remove the post. Also, it actually pulled my GPU off center a hair. Although afterwards I decided not to use the tilt, this feature was a nice touch and fairly easy to adjust (provided you didn't try to follow the instructions which were nonsensical). I just saw no thermal improvement or aesthetic enhancement, so I set it back to normal (which looks great!) I really like the ARGB strip and the thought in providing a nice cable management opening for the wire was a plus. The ventilation at the bottom of the bracket was well thought out too. And the thermals in the vertical position were only a couple of degrees higher than my previous horizontal mount, so the great look I gained didn't cost me any performance dip, which was great. I was disappointed in the 4.0 PCIE riser cable (I wish they could have included a 5.0) but they clearly in the description and on the box that the riser was 4.0 so no knock on Phanteks. I will however caution anyone with a 5.0 PCIE slot to check their motherboard settings. They will more than likely need to change the port settings from "auto" to "PCIE 4.0" in order to avoid crashes and other stability issues. All in all, I am very happy with the quality of the bracket and how it eventually turned out. However, it did take extra work on my part due to some minor (but significant) issues that Phanteks should address. I would still recommend this bracket due to the premium fit and finish and the amazing aesthetics.
A Game Changer!
Pros: This new PSU design is a legitimate game changer! The side ports made building in my 5000D so much easier! I have twelve fans in this build along with several RGB controllers, etc. And not only was PSU cable connection a breeze, but I felt like I had much more room for excess cabling due to the setup. I personally also liked the new smaller connections for the attachments to the PSU.
Cons: I would have preferred some better cabling, especially for the PCIE 5.0 cable going to my RTX 4080 as it doesn't even match the other cables. But it still looks fine in my build and I assume that Corsair and 3rd party cable manufacturers will provide cable upgrades in the future.
Overall Review: I would highly recommend this PSU as the side mount for connections is not a gimmick. It really does help, especially for enthusiasts like me who constantly tinker with my setup. I have no doubt that other vendors will be copying this, so it's also kind of cool to be a first adopter.
