Full Tower Case
Pros: Well-built, sturdy construction. Has room for two 5.25" front-bays, which is why I picked it. I see that most case designers/manufacturers are moving away from front panel hardware, but I still use what are now called optical drives and memory readers/writers. The documentation is sparse, but acceptable (lots of intuitive-type illustrations). Plenty of room for fans, very quiet; no vibration. I installed Noctua fans instead of those that were supplied: one 140-front and two 120-bottom (in); two 120-top and one 140-back (out)
Cons: I needed to buy extra long EPS-12V power cables (2.46 feet; Corsair sells them) for my ASUS ProArt b550-CREATOR mobo (the additional 8-pin and 4-pin connections in the upper-left corner of the motherboard); because it's a full-size tower the standard length ones are just too short to fit comfortably. Maybe not really a "con"; just a heads-up for the next guy.
Overall Review: I recommend this product for anyone who, like me, doesn't like to cram expensive electronic components into a just-barely-big-enough case. Plenty of room, especially now that round-brown spinny things are pretty much obsolete.
An awesome board.
Pros: I have been using ASUS hardware for many years, particularly motherboards, laptops, and optical drives. I have always found them to be solid, reliable components/products. This mobo seems to be no exception. High quality construcition, decent documentation. I bought this mobo because of its Thunderbolt3/4 support.
Cons: Sadly, after booting successfully once, the first time, my mobo failed and would no longer boot. Newegg processed my RMA request in their usual efficient and professional manner. I received a replacement board last week, and will be re-installing my components and having another go at it shortly. It's planting season where I live, and that takes priority.
Overall Review: Still building my machine. I'll update this review after my first successful boot. Original purchase: mobo failure immediately after first boot. It happens. 2021-06-06 update: I installed components on the RMA replacement motherboard: AMD Ryzen 5 5600x CPU G.SKILL Ripjaws-V Series DDR4 6400 (64GB) memory CORSAIR RMx Series RM850x power supply (2x500GB) SAMSUNG 980 PRO Series NVMe storage (1xTB) SAMSUNG 870 EVO Series SSD storage Fractal Design Define 7 XL Case (full tower) (2) Noctua NF-12 PWM, Premium fans (2) Noctua NF-12A PWM, Premium fans (2) Noctua NF-A14 PWM, Premium fans On first boot attempt, the machine presented a VGA error: one long, then three short beeps, white QLED; wouldn't boot. Checked the memory, monitor, PSU, no luck. On hunch, I installed a brand new GeFORCE 1650 graphics card I had never used. Successful boot. Who knew? Getting better; fingers crossed, more later. 2021-06-22 I updated from the original BIOS delivered on the board (0403) to the latest non-beta version (2201). I used the flash drive method, everything went smoothly, with one glitch: I had to enable CSM in BIOS settings, when had been disabled from the BIOS update. (The symptom is that the machine can't find any boot devices). I'm loving this board.
Memory Reader/Writer
The StarTech packaging was good; the unit is as advertised (no switcheroo here); I am a satisfied customer.
