Easy to use NVMe enclosure
Pros: Easy push button lid to install NVMe, with a small latch to hold the NVMe in place.
Cons: Small latch to hold NVMe in place can be hard to turn (especially if you are trying to hold the NVMe down). Very short USB C cable comes with this device.
Overall Review: I liked this so much (even with the cons), I now have four.
Wired seems to work great, not so much with Bluetooth
Pros: Bluetooth (also a con) Detachable mic Comes with appropriate cables (rare these days) Lasts for advertised time on wireless
Cons: The padding for the ears is not the greatest. (-0.5 Eggs) The Bluetooth is a Pro because of the Bluetooth capability. It is also the biggest hit on the Egg chart (-2.5 Eggs). Here is the reason for this big hit. Yes, it states that Bluetooth has a range of 3m or 10ft. I can with most Bluetooth devices go double to 10x that distance in open air (omnidirectional Bluetooth dongle being unobstructed by anything). In the case of this headset, I can go about 15-20ft, and the headset starts cutting out. Yes, still beyond the range limit mentioned, and I was okay with it. I started using them while walking, connected to my phone in my back pocket (2.5ft away), and it starts cutting out. As the phone was on the opposite side of the power connector, I swapped the pocket, and the cutting out only happened when I moved my head so the signal was going through my body (looking left). As this is odd, I put my hand to the right side (button controls side), and the headset cuts out. I can duplicate this problem all day long. I own the A7 version of OneOdio headphones, and they do not do this.
Overall Review: I am contacting the manufacturer about the Bluetooth problem, as I cannot recommend these as they stand. Oh, on a side note, if you pick these up for Windows 10, as of Win 10 1903, the headset hands free mode will not come out of telephone quality. You will want to hook up the cable to get these to sound good. If you use the headset as headphones only with Bluetooth, they work great. I wanted to have great sound while playing games and speaking via TeamSpeak/Vent/Discord cordless. Not with the current Win 10 1903 state. Will update this once I have a response from the manufacturer.
Does not work with all devices
Pros: USB 3.2. eSATA connection
Cons: Does not work with all the devices that attach to it. Swap cables, and it works for the same device. Use the old cable on another USB 3.0 port, and the cable works fine with the same device. Finicky is what I would say this is.
Overall Review: Maybe recommend this product. I am not 100% certain what the issues are with this USB hub. I can use the same cable for some devices, and the cable works fine, and then not for other devices. I can take that same cable and plug it into a USB 3.0 port directly on the back of my system and the devices work fine. Same cable will charge a phone lightening fast, yet for a tablet the cable will only do "slow mode". Swap cables and things change, as in devices that were working no longer work. These cables are all known good cables, and this cable swapping is frustrating.
Active KVM
Pros: This is an Active KVM. Remote to switch systems. Comes with all the needed cables.
Cons: USB 2.0, but I can live with this. The keyboard must be in pass thru mode to use the hot keys to swap systems. Size... Wow, this is a bit of a monster. No battery for the remote in packaging (docs state to insert a CR2025 battery, however none in box). Had to purchase a battery for the remote.
Overall Review: So far, I would recommend this to folks needing an active KVM. The only downside was setting up the monitors, which seemed to not want to come on after hooking them up to the KVM. After some minor troubleshooting, got the displays working for each system.
PASSIVE KVM - No EDID
Pros: Does connect 3 monitors to each system. Does have a USB 3.0 hub.
Cons: This is a PASSIVE KVM, it has no EDID to keep the monitor signal "alive" on the systems. You can see this when you connect monitors, and leave one monitor off the KVM. When you swap systems, the KVM cuts the signal to the monitors pushing all the windows to any connected display not attached to the KVM. In essence, active switches emulate peripherals, while passive switches do not. If you are uncertain of what I am mentioning above, do a web search for "KVM Active vs Passive".
Overall Review: I would not recommend this product for a person that needs monitors not connect to the KVM to display data, as this product will "cut" the signal to any monitors attached to the KVM. If you do not need to have any extra monitors attached, and you need all three devices flipping between two systems, go for this device, as it will do what you need.
Works really well, plan on issues with connector.
Pros: SATA Enclosure is very decent looking (see cons). Feels sturdy.
Cons: Uses Mini USB connector on the enclosure. This is a con, as I would love to get rid of all these cables that are mismatched to older tech with newer tech. I have lost count of the number of Mini & Micro cables I now have, and new tech is coming with USB C connectors. Now for the con that took the egg away. When installing my SATA drives (I have two enclosures I purchased at the same time), the same thing happened with each. The connection to the drive went on smooth, easy. Went to put said drives into the case and found that the drive is putting stress on the connector because the connector is not straight out, is angles up. While this is not normally a problem, to install the screws for the enclosure requires me to apply pressure to get the holes lined up. This can do one of many things, my hope is that it fixes the connector, my fear is that it damages the connector on the drive.
Overall Review: Every enclosure, until now, I have purchased, the connectors to the drive have been straight on. I would have called this a fluke, however two enclosures with the same problem leads me to believe this an issue with the way it is manufactured. It did not matter which way I tried putting the drive into the enclosure, it needed me to apply pressure to get the screw holes to line up. I listed the USB as a con, as most stuff coming out is using USB C or Micro USB. This connector feels like a throw back to USB 2.0 days.
DANG!!! Shipping was phenominal!
According to Newegg, the chair was to ship Friday (after ordering it Wednesday). As it was coming ground, I had no problems with this. Here it is Thursday, UPS has dropped the chair off, and I just got the notification that it had shipped. It is unheard of for a product to come from PA to OR overnight via ground.
Unexpected fast delivery
I was very surprised when the APC I had ordered from Davidson Store to arrive before I was expecting it. In addition to this, apparently I was given the wrong tracking information, to which the company contacted me to let me know the correct tracking information without my contacting them about it.
Faster than expected
I was very surprised by the battery I had ordered coming as quickly as it did. Fit perfectly within the APC UPS I was replacing the battery in. Thank you Tech Express!
