Yes, there is a heatsink included. It'll get the job done at stock settings (barely), but, you are better off with getting an aftermarket cooler for better temps and less noise.

Yes: this AMD PROCESSOR came with a small fan and a heat sink. I chose not to use it and bought a bigger more efficient heat sink and fan from NEWEGG. It was just a personal choice. I could of chosen to use the heat sink and it would of been fine. However I like big fans and heat sinks.

Question 3

I bought a ASUS A88X-PLUS FM2+ / FM2 AMD A88X (Bolton D4) SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard with integrated graphics with an FM2+ socket. I just noticed that the box says that it requires a discreet GPU. Does this mean I absolutely cannot use my onboard graphics and have to purchase a graphics card??

The FM2+ boards were designed to be used with APUs (which have graphics embeded in the cpu).  That is why the boards have the video ports.  This athalon chip was once an APU that had a defective gpu core, so they shut off all the gpu cores and called it an athalon.  This is a good way to sell a once defective product.  Now since it was once an apu its going to fit on the FM2+ board but will require a discrete graphics card and render the video outputs on the mobo useless.

Yes, but from what I've read, it's terribly inefficient. I didn't even bother with it and went with a cooler master 212 evo.

Yes, as well as the thermal gel required for contact between the sink and the CPU. I found it very easy to install.

Just built with this CPU and paired it with a 270x and am getting terrible performance from one, or both, of them. WoW and the newest Call of Duty both on Lowest settings, and getting max of 25 fps in each. Either I'm doing something wrong, of these two components don't work well together?

     I paired mine with a 7770 2G and got better than that (2200 bench mark ).  Curious as to which mother board and OS you are using? It sounds like a windows stock drivers issue I had a few years back before I did the 300 update thing.  So of course first thing I would recommend is that Bios, OS, mother board and video drivers are all newest.  If that doesn't work I recommend swapping with another Video card if available or trying the 270x in another computer.  Should identify the weak link for return.  I apologize if you already tried this.  According to CPUBenchMark
your Graphics card should test in the 4000 range.  you can download their performance test for free and find your bottle neck.  Have a good one

Is the stock cooler good enough if I'm not overclocking at all? I'm also not going to be playing demanding games.

no, terrible cooler.  Just starting the PC I get notifications that my CPU has gone over 95*C.  This is in a 4U rackmount with 120mm fan pulling in air and two 60mm fans pulling out air.  I will be upgrading the cooler but am worried about fitment in the 4U case.

Just wondering because the description doesn't give me a whole lot. Does this cpu come with a stock heatsink? It is unclear and just wanted to make sure that it does or doesn't before purchasing.

Usually when the item number ends in BOX that indicates it comes with a heatsink & fan.  The ones without BOX at the end will be OEM, meaning chip only.

I have a compaq cq5600 f with a AM3 socket processor.  The specs from the manufacturer says only AM2+ are supported with the motherboard.  I'm confused.  Will this processor work as an easy upgrade to the snail slow processor that came with the pc?

Different sockets. FM2 CPUs have integrated GPUs so motherboards are generally simpler and less expensive. FM2 based systems are generally lower performance, but good enough for most applications and a cheaper build
