Random reboots
Pros: - Doesnt work long enough to know what the pros are
Cons: - Doesnt post when a known working dedicated GPU is added to the board. - random system reboots when m.2 drive has activity. - issues may be due to bios issues with 8000 series ryzen cpus.
Overall Review: Not a great experience. First time using AM5 socket, so I have no hardware to test against. Its not clear if the issues are due to bad hardware or bad bios.
Frequent random reboots
Cons: - Linux system reboots every 10-15 minutes with or without load.
Overall Review: - Not clear if CPU is too new or if the part is defective, but it doesn't work for more than 10-15 minutes before causing system to reboot.
Not enough contact with CPU
Pros: - none
Cons: - Installed on a AMD Ryzen 5 1600x and it wasn't able to keep the cpu cooler than 60C at idle. I wasn't brave enough to see what it would do under load. - Even after replacing the stock thermal paste with Arctic Silver 5, I still couldn't get below 60C. - Using CM Storm Trooper case, which is very spacious with lots of air movement.
Overall Review: - After replacing this with an old AM3+ cooler I was able to achieve 35C idle immediately after install. - The only real difference between this product and my older AM3+ cooler was the amount of contact made with the CPU. The older one covers the entire processor, while this products does about 2/3 coverage. Despite the marketing for this product, it clearly doesn't make enough contact to properly draw heat away from the processor. - At the end of the day I wasted $50 for a cooler that was slaughtered by an old $20 kit.
