Using it for a video wall: works perfectly with Linux
Pros: Installs flawlessly on Liinux (Ubuntu 16.04 LTS). Drives four HDMI tv sets properly to show tons of data on a video wall. After three weeks' experience it seems very stable in 24x7 use. Reasonably priced.
Cons: I have nothing negative to say about this device.
Overall Review: FYI: I have no idea whether this is good for game-level performance. I'm just using it for data. It IS good for that.
Does not connect at 60Hz to 4K monitor, only 30Hz.
Pros: Everything work well except the 4k@60Hz.
Cons: 4k@60Hz: no go, only 30Hz. monitor plugged into laptop works 4k@60Hz. WAVLINK's online support form, which they call a guest book, rejects all input. There seems to be no way to contact them.
Overall Review: If you're looking for 4k@60Hz, beware.
This printer / scanner combo just works.
Pros: I use it for scanning dozens of documents, and for casual printing. It works flawlessly with Windows 10 on WiFi.
Cons: It's easy to work around the missing duplex scanning feature. Duplex scanners cost a lot more.
Why pay more than 2x more than the cheap laptop batteries? This is why.
Pros: This battery holds more power than the cheaper ones. I've had a bunch of cheaper ones, but they all were used up after a couple of hours. I have to carry the battery. Then at the end of its useful life, I have to get rid of it. These are toxic, so getting rid of fewer of them is a good thing.
Cons: Price. But I got what I paid for, both with the cheap batteries, and with this one. "There is scarcely anything in the world that some man cannot make a little worse, and sell a little more cheaply. The person who buys on price alone is this man's lawful prey." John Ruskin (1819-1900) I'm tired of being somebody's lawful prey.
Excellent once installed
Pros: It's fast and low-power.
Cons: It was hard to clone my old drive and get this working on my AMD ASUS laptop. The included Acronis True Image 2014 software caused trouble, and I finally got it to work Cruicial's suggestion to remove SATA/IDE drivers and reboot worked badly.
Overall Review: Installed Acronis True Image 2014. Went into View Local Services, into which Acronis installed three services. I set Acronis Nonstop Backup Service to "Disabled" (double click the service). I set Acronis Scheduler2 Service to Manual and started it. I set Acronis Sync Agent Service to Disabled. I MADE A RESTORE POINT (!!!) I started Acronis, and got the cloning process ready to go. I Went back to View Local Services, and stopped the Acronis Scheduler2 Service. I Did the clone and proceeded to put the new SSD in the system in place of the old drive. When the new, SSD, system came up, I did these things: -Made another restore point. NOTE WELL: System Restore needed to be turned on for the new disk drive. - Uninstalled Acronis True Image 2014 - Got back to work with my wizzy new SSD
Fast and reliable, once it was working
Pros: This SSD is fast and reliable. I have not had the aged-file read slowdown problem that plagued many users. It's been in service for six months now. The Samsung Magician software makes it easier to sort out the Windows OS settings to optimize operation.
Cons: When I heard about the aged-file read slowdown, the device was about four months old. I had to spend (waste?) an hour or so to make sure it wasn't affecting me.
Overall Review: This is in an old workhorse 3gbps SATA laptop. I had some early problems with bootup, which were solved by cleaning the SATA pins. DON'T FORGET TO ENABLE the overprovisioning (use the Magician). You'll extend the lifetime of the device at the cost of some capacity.
