A Powerful Start With Room for Improvement
Pros: CPU and GPU Combo: The Ryzen 7 9800X3D and RTX 5080 are top-tier and deliver outstanding performance. These were the main reason I went with a prebuilt, and they absolutely shine. Fast Shipping: Skytech provided quick delivery, got it up and running in no time. Clean Assembly: The wiring was neat, and the setup process was straightforward. Case Quality: The MONTECH King 95 stands out as an exceptional case with premium design, modularity, and real glass panels. Quiet, classy, and well-built. Easy Upgrades: Swapping out parts was manageable, and very easy with the King 95 case.
Cons: Cutting Corners: As with many prebuilt systems, Skytech saved costs on lesser-known or lower-quality components like the PSU, motherboard, and RAM. While functional, these parts felt cheap and werent built for long-term or high-performance use. RAM Quality: The Geil RAM brand is obscure, with mixed benchmark results and questionable reliability. This introduces uncertainty about its durability and performance consistency. Motherboard Features: The Gigabyte motherboard is very basic and not ideal for overclocking. It lacks visual appeal and premium features of higher end boards. Missing Case Parts: While the MONTECH King 95 case is great, Skytech didnt include some of the modular extras.
Overall Review: Overall, Id say this build was worth it. I decided to go with a prebuilt because the 5080 and 9800X3D are all sold out or being scalped for ridiculous prices near me. The CPU and GPU combo alone made it a solid buy, especially with the fast shipping and clean assembly. That said, like most prebuilt systems, some of the components felt cheap, and Ive already swapped out several of them. Still, the whole process worked out, and Ive ended up with a high-performing machine. Like most prebuilts, Skytech cut corners on parts like the PSU, motherboard, and RAM, which most people might not notice. Its frustrating but common practice for this price range. I bought this specifically for the CPU/GPU combo, so I expected to make upgrades anyway. Skytech did a good job with the build quality, wiring, and manuals, so Im happy with the purchaseeven if Ive ended up with spare parts I dont know what to do with. UserBenchmarks: Game 467%, Desk 125%, Work 473% CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D - 129.6% GPU: Nvidia RTX 5080 (PNY) - 378.9% SSD: Kingston SNV3S2000G 2TB - 490.1% RAM: Geil CL38-44-44 D5-6000 2x16GB - 411.4% MBD: Gigabyte GA-B650M C V3-Y1 PSU: Some non-modular 850w I don't recall the name of and wasn't saved in bench Heres the breakdown of the parts, yours may be different than mine: CPU (AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D): Absolutely stellar. One of the best CPUs available in 2025, hands down. Its a beast for gaming and multitasking, and nothing else really needs to be said. GPU (Nvidia RTX 5080 - PNY): PNY Branded GPU's are on the cheaper side, but I have prior experience with PNY and think they are very solid and underrated overall. The card has triple fans and is quiet and runs cool. It is on the heavier side of 5080's but looks good aesthetically. Performance is fantastic toosmooth 250 FPS on high settings and 160-170 FPS on ultra at 1440p. No complaints here. SSD (Kingston SNV3S2000G 2TB): Its a basic budget SSD with decent speed (3,044 MB/s). It works fine but doesnt compete with faster options. I upgraded to a Samsung 990 Pro 4TB, which is a huge improvement. RAM (Geil CL38-44-44 D5-6000 2x16GB): This is the oddball. Ive never heard of the brand, and benchmarks show mixed results. While it performed surprisingly well in my test, Im not sure about its quality or long-term durability. I might replace it. Motherboard (Gigabyte GA-B650M C V3-Y1): Like other components, very cheap and very barebone. Also quite UGLY. That being said, it gets the job done under normal, non-overclocked conditions. Not sure how well it would hold up with overclocking and has no VRAM heatsink. PSU: The included 850W non-modular PSU was typical of prebuilts--serviceable but not ideal. I swapped it out for a Corsair 1000W modular PSU, which was a big upgrade in terms of quality and cable management. Case (MONTECH King 95): This is easily the highlight of the build. Its a beautiful, high-quality case with great airflow and modularity. The glass panels are a nice touch. Skytech missed the mark by not including some of the modular extras that come with the case as a standalone purchase, but overall, Im very happy with it. I'll give it a 9/10 rating, solely becuase I have seen worse from prebuilts. Skytech did a good job here for prebuilt standards, everything looks great and was well assembled. If this was a user-built PC, I'd have to give it a 7/10 for the odd budget parts chosen.
