Well Integrated and Seamless Graphics.

GIGABYTE Radeon RX 7600 XT GAMING OC 16G Graphics Card, 3x WINDFORCE Fans 16GB 128-bit GDDR6, GV-R76XTGAMING OC-16GD Video Card
GIGABYTE Radeon RX 7600 XT GAMING OC 16G Graphics Card, 3x WINDFORCE Fans 16GB 128-bit GDDR6, GV-R76XTGAMING OC-16GD Video Card

Pros: It was important to me to have flexibility and with 2 HDMI and 2 DP, it should minimize the number of adapters I'll need, though I definitely need to upgrade my monitor capability to bring it in line with the output power of this card. I wanted the latest new model for my build and this card came out 2 days before I began part selection. The price was as reasonable as you'll find for a brand new (January 2024) release. It is very quiet, though I haven't stressed its capabilities yet, so the fans haven't been up to full speed. I had a lot of things to do in my build to get it going before I got around to obtaining drivers, but it ran just fine with one screen using only Windows native default driver. Getting the drivers and their installation was simple and straightforward and the interface with Windows is trouble free. The software seems to integrate its own 4 ports plus the motherboard port, providing option for 5 connections, though I'll never use more than the 3 I have plugged into the card now. The board is well packaged, handsome and smooth--and easy to handle. There are no peel off plastics that are annoying and leave bits hanging. It is light enough that no back end support is required.

Cons: You will need to allocate space properly as it does occupy 2 1/2 slots, so motherboard configuration might be a consideration. The card is in a niche between the cheaper options and the really costly ones; it might have been nice for some builders if they could have squeezed that space a little. The cooling seems very sturdy and sufficient, so that is likely the trade-off.

Overall Review: I will leave it to others to comment on the gaming performance as my needs in that area are minimal. The card has good options to handle my requirements and the software seems to be easily understood and utilized. I really love the metal surfaces and anticipate good longevity from what appears to be high quality assembly to go with the excellent overall design. Will the big RAM number flick your switch? It's good marketing, but as always, do your research.

Tai Chi Indeed.

ASRock Z790 Taichi Lite LGA 1700 (14th,13th,12th Gen) DDR5 Intel Z790 SATA 6Gb/s Extended ATX Motherboard

Pros: I am the type of builder who tries to provide capability in my builds for plenty of expansion possibilities and add-ons. When looking for a motherboard, I was out to get a maximum number of PCIe slots, and with 2 extremely high spec ones plus a third full size, this board filled the bill about as much as is possible today. Together with the 8 SATA3 ports, and plenty of USB connections, many with extreme speed capability, there are few limitations I can imagine I will encounter. The board is rugged, and withstood the slightly abusive installation process with no defects. The five M.2 slots (in addition to the one that comes in the form factor for and is occupied with a Wi-Fi module) give an almost unreasonable opportunity for drive expansion in this newer format. Components are of high quality and the multi-layer board seems well assembled. It fit perfectly and all of the pluggable connections are solid and insertion went well. Airflow for cooling is unobstructed and the board is sufficiently stiff that the huge CPU air cooler I utilized was well accommodated. I'm not big on the RGB as my case has solid panels, but it's quite pretty in the default mode, and has headers for other lighting connections as well as the multiple fans/pumps that power users will require.

Cons: I struggled a bit with getting the board running with my system. That is partly my own issue as I was reusing some legacy components. The Reddit and ASRock forums were pretty helpful and I was ultimately able to get things going without actually contacting Tech Support. Part of the issue was the complexity of the BIOS. However those who like to tinker with every aspect of their system will probably like that more. In the end, I was able to find and adjust everything I needed. If I was using all new components, I imagine it would have been more plug and play to get going. There are limitations to some of the superpowers of this board when using all possible connections but these are well documented in the literature so will not come as a surprise to anyone who researches their purchase properly. However, it's a bit annoying to lose half of the SATA ports if you need to plug a card into the third PCIe slot. However, as one of few boards to even offer such a level of flexibility, it's something I can live with. There are only so many lanes available and at this price point, it's a compromise that's really just a quibble on my part.

Overall Review: I hope the designers of this product will be pleased when I say that the balance, strength, and flexibility of this board live up to the ideals of its namesake martial art. As an example of a large form factor board, it has the space to include lots of features that people who build physically larger machines want included. It would be difficult to find a better combination of features and performance, all at a reasonable price.

Fractal Design Define 7 XL Black Brushed Aluminum / Steel E-ATX Silent Modular Full Tower Computer Case

Pros: I can't imagine a consumer build that would not be able to be accommodated in this product. It has space for everything. The primary reason I selected it was that it was able to accommodate both the eATX format motherboard and 2 Optical drives. Even that rare combination of needs didn't compromise the ability to house my several hard drives, a large power supply and huge chip fan that my project utilizes. Honourable mention goes to the filtering and wide open ventilation possibilities that are present. It will sit on the floor and my experience is that even in a clean location, hair and dust will be attracted. I'm betting that the filters will be highly effective...and easily removed for cleaning.

Cons: Other reviews here have noted a few small things that could be addressed by the manufacturer. I suppose it's weight could be an issue for some. It's not designed to be portable, though. The panels do detach (as intended) if you put pressure on them by handling or lifting in a certain way but the instructions clearly show how to attach screws to secure them if desired. Finally, I do concur with those who indicate the attaching screws are highly torqued at the factory. This is double edged. They won't loosen during transport, but can be a challenge to extract for component mounting. I have to assume they are within specification for the fastener, otherwise they would be stripped, so there is one way to deal with this: Use good tools and use a proper high-quality screwdriver bit and sufficient pressure when removing any factory assembled screws. That way you won't round them out or create sharp edges.

Overall Review: This product may be over the top for the needs of most hobbyists. If you need the space, or just the flexibility for various devices, horizontal card mounting, liquid cooling, multiple hard drives or fans however, this is the box for you.
