Does this system support dual channel memory? If so upgrading the ram will likely result in a decrease in overall performance no?

it's dual channel. The first 4gb ram is soldered and the other 4gb is upgradable. You could download CPU-Z and check the memory section if your laptop is in dual channel mode

Is this a good gaming computer? What can it handle?

The Iris Xe is, on paper, somewhere around a Vega 6 - 8 iGPU. So it can likely do some gaming on lowest settings. Until more reviews are made of different configurations we won't know for sure.

where is the SD port for transferring/installing photos?

There is no SD slot built in, you'll need to purchase a USB to SD adapter.

Is this a EVO platform rated Laptop?

No. It meets most of the criteria (e,g 11th-gen, iRIS xe graphics, WiFi 6), but not all (no Thunderbolt 4).

Is there any room to add a 2.5 drive or another NVMe SSD? If not can you upgrade the installed NVMe?

Yes, either a 2.5 SSD or a mechanical drive.
