Question 1

Would a standard logitech IR USB dongle fit behind the front I/O panel door when closed(it sticks out about 1/4")? ie. can I leave my wireless mouse/keyboard dongle in a front usb slot and close the door/flap completely?

I tried connecting my Logitech (mouse) dongle into the front and closing the compartment.  The door only went halfway down. So the answer is, no you can not close the door fully.  There are lots of USB connections in the back on the mother board I am using. For me this was a non issue.  This case is still awesome though in my opinion.

Question 2

One review I saw showed that the sides/top of this case were a fingerprint magnet because there was no good powder-coating. Is this true?

The top is made of the same plastic as the front. The metal sides, however, will accumulate fingerprints. They don't stand out, at least in my situation. (lighting, viewing angle, etc.) I'm not bothered by it. As long as you're not constantly opening your computer up, it's no trouble to take a wet cloth and wipe it down.

Can you use a i7 6700 board in it?

I wish I could give you a certain answer, but I can't.  Phanteks makes very nice, very big, and very sturdy cases, and I use three of them.  With a Phanteks case you must plan your air flow carefully.  They don't naturally have a smooth, consistent flow of air thru the case.  Consider purchasing extra (industrial grade) fans and covering the case holes with duct tape that don't contribute to a smooth steady flow of air.  This is particularly true if you plan to do computation with GPUs, which radiate a lot of heat.

The only i7 6700 motherboard I saw for sale on NewEgg is M ATX and has dimensions "Motherboard Size: Approx. 190 x 170mm / 7.5 x 6.7 in ..."  That is really small for a Phanteks case, so you should be sure that there are appropriate holes in the case side wall to which to screw the mobo.  Lastly, consider telephoning or going to a computer store  such as Micro Center that has a display of mobos and cases and checking the fit out for yourself or asking a sales person.  I do research using computers; all my motherboards are large with lots of memory.  Sorry, but my answer is very uncertain with regard to a smaller motherboard.

Question 4

How many 3.5 HDDs can I install in this case?

There are 6 easy access "side" bays and an additional 3 front bays.  Plus two 2.5" SSD mounts.

Question 5

When you install a 5.25" optical drive, do you remove the drive bay shields?

I seem to recall that the front cover can be removed for installation. You will need to remove both side panels first.

Does it have any dust filters?

It has a top, bottom and front filter already built in and stops a fair amount of dust.  The front filter is a little questionable though, it covers the entire front but the side vents built into the front are not filtered.  No clue why they did this but does not seem to let much dust in.

Question 7

After putting a 200mm fan on the top of the case, is there still anymore space left for another 120mm or 140mm fan?

We actually have 3x 140mm fans across the top.  It has been a while since I have been inside the case but I would say that if you get a 200 in there, then, yes, there will still be room for another 140 or 120.  HOWEVER, I think the case only supports a 200mm fan in the front panel, not on top.

Question 8

What is the size of the HDD cages?  I have a PCI card that 12 inches long that I want to be able to fit inside the case without it touching the cages inside.

Had a 11.5 inch powercolors r9 290 pcs and had almost 3 inches to spare before the hard drive cage was in the way.

Does this model, "PH-ES614PC_BK" come with the PSU cover? I see it in some images and not in others.

This model does not have a cover. The next model up by Phanteks, the one with the window, does have a PSU cover.

This case can obviously support a normal ATX motherboard.  It's a decently big case, and that's a regular motherboard.
