I just got the WD6004FZWX (6TB) drive. It seems kind of loud. Is this normal?

Well, the seek noise rating is 34 DBa High capacity drives are noisier than the perhaps smaller capacity HDDs you're used to. Plus,it's a 7200 RPM Drive that uses multiple platters, runs fairly hot, and draws about 9 watts. As long as it's not making strange noises, I'd bear with it. These drives were a steal, since it's the older 128 MB cache model,(Newest = 256 MB cache). Since I have no idea of what your case or it's layout is, I don't have any suggestions as to what you might do to get it "out of earshot" as it were.

SMR or CMR for model WD6004FZWX? Not even the WD website has this model and why can't Newegg just state which one it is? I really am starting to hate Newegg.

CMR, Only the 1T is SMR for the black series.
