Easy Installation - Plug & Play even on PCIe 2.0
Pros: -Very thin and fit perfectly in the exceptionally small space below my GPU -Much faster speeds for older PC builds -low price -heatsink included
Cons: -Booting is not optional on older devices unless you use a USB Hack or a dedicated legacy boot SSD
Overall Review: I was gifted an older X58 mobo build from a friend with only SATA III ports available and my read/write speeds were pretty paltry so I wanted to upgrade to get some better speeds out of this older yet capable machine. This was perfect and worked very easily. Even connected to a PCIe 2.0 it still provided much faster read speeds (x5 read/x3 time write) times than my SATA SSD.
Mixed Performance & Various inconsistencies
Pros: -Very slim option for adding faster USB-C ports to an older PC -Faster speeds when it does work
Cons: -Often inconsistent read/write speeds -Inability to read drives sometimes needs a PC restart
Overall Review: Since using this on my ASUS X58 Mobo (still running in 2024) I have gained the ability to use faster 3.2 USB speeds and can use my Samsung T7 with USB-C now at speeds of about 800 R/W. Unfortunately, sometimes these speeds seem off though, and I have to run CrystalDiskMark to check if it's operating properly. This may be a mobo pci power issue, but I don't think so since I have no problem running a NMVe PCI-e in the same slot. You may not have these issues so give it a good if this is for you and you have a newer motherboard.
