Can you provide installation instructions for my new Dell laptop Inspiron 15? going from 4gb to 8 gb on my Ram.

Lay your laptop bottom side up (on a soft towel to protect from abrasions) on a flat work surface. Adjacent to the battery compartment cover should be a cover held in place with several Phillips jeweler's screws.  Remove these and remove the cover.  You should see the existing RAM and any available slots for additional RAM sticks.  Carefully grasp the new RAM at both ends, align the notch and firmly press into place into the empty slot until there is a faint snap. Return the cover and turn on the computer and it will recognize the new RAM.  To check, look in "My Computer" Properties for the computer's description. 8Gig of RAM should now appear.

I am looking to upgrade the ram on my laptop. I have an HP Elitebook 840. I already have a 4gb stick installed and want to put this in the open slot. Will this be compatible?

It possibly should be -- honestly, I've been buying ram for years now, and I've never found a stick that's completely incomptable with a system.   Most computers do a pretty good job of matching up different ram sticks so that they'll be compatible when you turn on your computer.

It might be a good idea to check the stick that's currently in your laptop with a tool like CPU-Z, and make sure that this stick matches the speed (DDR3 1600, etc), though it's not entirely necessary.

how do I find the voltage of the original ram?

If you can take it out and look at the label, it will have a model number, for example, "Kingston 4GB 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model KVR16LS11/4"

Model numbers are invariably long strings of meaningful digits like R2561600M3KV6T or in this case KVR16LS11/4.  Then, if NewEgg or somebody sold that model number it will have a specification table.  In this case KVR16LS11/4 is a 1.35 volt part.

If you don't have a visible label, then you have to go to a memory manufacturer's web site that has a memory configuration database and give them your make and model, like Pewlitt Hackard 2530-X32Q  and see what they show as standard equipment.   Just like looking up the 1978 Ford Fairmont came with a 2.2 liter V6.

I am looking to upgrade my HP 2000 Notebook PC from 4GB to 8GB. Notebook currently has HP16D3LS1KFG/4G.  Can I use KVR16LS11/4 along with what I currently have or does it pose a problem.  Or is there another equivalent model I should go for?

Usually the biggest thing is that the specs are the same. As long as the new RAM is PC3-12800, it should work fine. If it is a cheap laptop, i would look up the maximum ram it will take. Also check that it has two slots. Some cheaper laptops only have one slot.

WILL THIS WORK ON A LENOVO U550?

Sorry, I don't know.

A couple of suggestions though. 
One. Check your machine through software or in the owners manual to see what type of memory you need. 
Two. Go to the lenovo support web site and see what kind of memory you need.
Lastly. Turn off your machine. Take the battery out. Open the memory panel and see what kind of memory is in there already.
I guess the last choice is to take the machine to a service facility, BB, Office Depot, Staples, etc and have them upgrade your machine.

Question 6

is this compatible with an acer aspire V series; they told me that it had to be ddr3L 4gb ram from the accer; had tried the ddr3 but was not compatible; they told me at accer that it had to be ddr3L; I don't know if the L makes the difference but I need 4gb because it already had 4; it has two slots for memory and can only be upgraded up to 8; will not take more than that; please advise??

The L stands for lower voltage, it should not be skipped.
If you have trouble finding the exact spec for your second piece, use the markings on your existing RAM to match up with.  
Note also you need to run 64 bit Windows to see more than 4 GB of RAM.

I have a Dell Latitude E6410 laptop which I need to upgrade from 4GB to 8GB. The specifications on my computer are: Technology DDR3 SDRAM - Speed 1333 MHz - Form Factor SO DIMM 204-pin. Will this product be compatible as I see 1600 and PC3 12800 listed for the Kingston RAM? Thank you.

This one will work for you.  It will just not run at it's full capacity.  You might want to check the pricing on the slower 1333 it might be cheaper and is all your computer can utilize.

Does this memory work in the HP ProBook 6570b notebook part #D8C10UT#ABA?

From a quick internet search of the specs for the HP6570, it also uses PC3 12800 memory modules so it should work; if you only have 4BG installed, and have a free memory slot, then this would work to make your total memory 8GB. You should search for manual online to verify what it takes, and where to add (or, if you know how, or someone who does know, shut the laptop off and unplug from outlet, then flip over and look for where memory cover is on back side of laptop. Be very careful of static discharge!!

Does this work with a Lenovo Y510p?

I think it will.  I you search "t510 memory ugrade" , one of the results is a Crucial site. From there if you go to "show all compatible memory", you will see they sell one with the same specs.
