Will this fit an old HP laserjet 4600 dn?

I was asked to answer this question by New Egg because I purchased this cable in the past. I can't confirm the cable will fit the device you mentioned. I bought the cable to try to make an old scanner work with a PC. If I remember correctly the cable fit the scanner, but there was no software available that supported the scanner with the operating system I was using on the computer. You may experience the same problem. I took the risk that the cable may not work because it is pretty inexpensive.  Hopefully this info helps.

I have a old zip drive I want connect to a Mac will this cable do it ?

Physically - YES! The problem is whether or not your Mac has drivers (whether included with the cable or downloadable) for your Mac to detect and utilize a USB to Parallel (LPT) cable. If drivers are available, then the cable will definitely work connecting up your Zip Drive to your Mac. I would check the vendors website to see if drivers are included or available for Mac.

I wan to use this cable to use a rainbow dongle to run an old program on WXP. Is it possible and has anyone done this?

This cable works fine for older printers using a serial port (i.e., HP DeskJet 932c) - plug and play. 
Not sure about the rainbow dongle.

Question 4

I have an old software program running on a old computer with a lpt1 port. That's the only way this program will print reports. It's hard to find a printer that will still take a cable such as this. I would like to know if this cable will "fool" the program thinking it's still an LPT1 printer cable going to a modern printer?

Hello, The cable has a driver disk that allows you to load the correct driver for your particular need in order to connect the printer to the pc.  Part of the setup with the wizard (windows) talks about selecting the correct port on the pc (USB).  You may have to try a couple of setup possibilities but I would think this should work for you.  You did not mention what type of software is running on the pc.  Hopefully it is WIN 2K or newer.  If not then you may have to upgrade something else in order to use your printer.
