Question 1

will this attach to Hanns-G HT231 DPBU touch screen, around 18 Pounds. I would like to attach this so it would be upside down? like to a ceiling (not really, but hard to explain)

The display in question will fit this mount. To answer the question about mounting it inverted, i would imagine it would be fine. The joints of this mount are tightened with an included hex wrench.  Once tightened it is quite solid. Note that the large circular plate is actually a button that when depressed allows for elevation adjustment.  I Have a 22 inch monitor of similar weight on this Arm. The mount requires a flat surface about 5 inches wide and minimum 3/4 inch thick. To test your question I pulled up on the mount with a fair amount of force..it remained quite firm. Although there are other mounts specifically designed for the application u need, but this one would work if need be.

Question 2

Does this arm have a grommet hole for installation?  We do not want clamp on....

I don't believe so. The clamp is built into the structure. It's pretty hefty. I've got 2 of them with 21" LCDs. They're not shaky when clamped. Hope that helps.

How many inches does the arm extend?

Approx. 18 inches from the base to the back of the mount. 
The actual monitor will obviously extend beyond that.

How long is the extension (how far will it reach)?

That really depends on how you plan on using it.  I have two 22" LCD's mounted vertically so I only get around 8" of throw.  If I mounted them horizontally I could see that going up to around 14-16"

The center of the swivel point on the base is inset over the table you mount it on by about 1".

From that swivel point you have around 18" of horizontal reach (it's hard to measure precisely because of the odd angles).

The lower horizontal arm is about 7" center to center and the upper (set as flat as it will go) gives you about 11" from its center to the mounting plate.

Two questions.  Does it come in black?  Does it work with a Dell monitor?

I only see a silver model available on Ergotron's website as well as NewEgg. As far as model compatibility, you should check the back of your monitor if it has mounting holes. There should be four mounting holes arranged in a square. If those holes are 75mm or 100mm apart from each other AND your monitor weighs less than 18 lbs, then you should be able to use it with this mount. Some Dell monitors have them while others do not, depending on model.
