can two of these units be connected to give 16 poe ports?

Accepted Answer

Two switches can be connected together vie ethernet cord.  This would not provide 16 ports.  Assuming one line coming in for internet, and one line going from switch one to switch two; you would have 6 available ports on switch one and 7 available ports on switch two.  Each port on the switch auto negotiates with the device plugged in to determine if it needs poe or just standard connection.

Question 2

Can you power this with PoE from another switch?

Accepted Answer

No, it is not designed for that.  It will require 120VAC, assuming USA geographical location.  More information is available in the PoE specifications on how that process works.

Question 3

What does" PoE Power Budget: 64W" mean.  Does that mean if I have 8 ports with cameras on each port,  I only have 8 w per port for power?

That is pretty much correct. I have a bunch of these switches in production for two years now and they each have five Polycom IP331 phones attached and they have been trouble-free.
