Welcome to the NVME party!

Intel SSD 600p Series (1.0TB, M.2 2280 80mm NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4, 3D1, TLC) Reseller Single Pack
Intel SSD 600p Series (1.0TB, M.2 2280 80mm NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4, 3D1, TLC) Reseller Single Pack

Pros: -Fast!!! -Small! -Easy installation! -Cheaper than Samsung 950/960 series (although not as fast) -1TB

Cons: None that I can think of.

Overall Review: I've had this for a few weeks now. It is in an Intel Skull Canyon NUC and it works great! Installation was simple - insert the card and screw in one screw, that's it. I think its even easier than installing RAM. I haven't benchmarked it, but it does *seem* to be faster than a standard SSD. True, it isn't as highly speced as the Samsung 950/960s, but it also is not as expensive (got it on sale, it was nearly half as expensive as a comperably sized Samsung). Also, at least with the Intel cards, the larger the drive the faster it is, so this one is faster than the (cheaper) 512gb or 256gb models, while being slightly cheaper per GB. Overall, it seems like a great jump forward for solid state storage!

Awesome little computer

Intel NUC Skull Canyon NUC6i7KYK Kit with 6th Gen. Intel Core i7 Processor, M.2 SSD Compatible, Dual DDR4 Memory Max 32GB with Intel Iris Pro Graphics, Thunderbolt 3, No OS, Windows 10 Compatible
Intel NUC Skull Canyon NUC6i7KYK Kit with 6th Gen. Intel Core i7 Processor, M.2 SSD Compatible, Dual DDR4 Memory Max 32GB with Intel Iris Pro Graphics, Thunderbolt 3, No OS, Windows 10 Compatible

Pros: Awesome computer! Very small, but with a powerful, quad core i7 processor w/6MB cache - better than most laptops and even many desktops. Dual M.2 drives, plenty of RAM, decent integrated graphics, and enough ports. Easy to use (and upgrade) BIOS. Can use up to 3 monitors, all with digital connections. Very fast with Xubuntu 16.10 installed.

Cons: There is a known issue which affects some (doesn't seem to be all, but it does affect mine) of the Skull Canyons where the HDMI connected monitor will not wake up after the NUC goes to sleep. This is extremely annoying, and for me the only way to fix is to restart the NUC. I've tried different HDMI cables, that doesn't seem to be the problem. I've also tried turning and unplugging the monitor and then reconnecting it - nothing works until a restart. The DisplayPort monitor works fine and wakes up with no problem. This issue seems to affect some Skull Canyons regardless of OS ( according to the Intel support forums). I'm hoping that a future BIOS or firmware update will fix this very annoying problem - at which point I will revise this review and give 5 stars.

Overall Review: Overall, I do really like this and definitely do not regret getting it, despite the annoying HDMI sleep issue. I can't believe how small this thing is! I got this to replace my 6 year old desktop and (mostly) to downsize. I have it mounted under my desk (used the VESA mount, it's slightly recessed from the edge so I can access the front ports). With only 2 rear USB ports, you will likely need a hub (I have a slim hub also mounted under the desk). I also have an Audioengine D1 (also mounted under the desk) hooked up via USB for audio - haven't tried the onboard sound. Also I am running wired Ethernet, so I haven't tried the onboard wireless. I am running Xubuntu 16.10 with kernel version 4.8.0 and had absolutely no problems installing. Following the advise of other reviews, I immediately updated the BIOS to the current version before even attempting an install. Install went fine without issue, and haven't had any issues since (although I have not tried the wireless, onboard sound or the Thunderbolt port). I did download and run the Intel graphics updater and got the latest graphics driver installed. The HDMI issue is very annoying, and is what prevents me from giving this 5 (or more!) stars. I am going to try using a Thunderbolt to HDMI converter and see if that will work, as I'm only running 2 displays and have no plans for a third. But it is annoying to even have to try that for an issue as basic as wake from sleep. Final thought: This is more expensive than a standard tower build, and probably more than a DIY small form factor build. However, you could never do a build this small! Also, it is less expensive than a similarly speced laptop. I was considering a Dell Precision 5xxx laptop (which has a slightly better i7 with an 8MB cache), but that came out to over $2k. So for half that, this thing is perfect! Build: Skull Canyon NUC 32GB (2x 16) G.Skill DDR4 2133MHz RAM 1TB Intel 600p NVME M.2 drive

Awesome!

ASUS VN248H-P 24" (Actual size 23.8") Full HD 1920 x 1080 VGA, 2x HDMI MHL Compatible Built-in Speakers Super Narrow Frame Design LED Backlit IPS Monitor
ASUS VN248H-P 24" (Actual size 23.8") Full HD 1920 x 1080 VGA, 2x HDMI MHL Compatible Built-in Speakers Super Narrow Frame Design LED Backlit IPS Monitor

Pros: Very nice monitor. Two HDMI ports allow for easy switching between computers (great for plugging in a laptop if you primarily use a desktop, etc).

Cons: Wish it had DisplayPort instead of VGA

Overall Review: I have two in a dual setup. They replaced two 19" Asus standard definition monitors. I know I'm late to the HD party and everyone is going 4K now, but still the upgrade from standard def to HD was great, as was the increase in screen real estate. I don't do much gaming, so they're mainly for work. Also I couldn't put the monitor mount back far enough to appreciate anything larger (I was eyeing the 27" model) - for the distance from my chair these are perfect.

Pros: It was inexpensive and works great. Its an HDMI cable. Not sure what makes the more expensive cables better - this one works fine.

Cons: None

Overall Review: This is running a 24" Full HD monitor just fine. I don't know if it would work with a 4K monitor or not - I assume it would, but I don't have a 4K to try.
