ASUS RT-AC68U Wireless-AC1900 Dual Band Gigabit Router IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n AiProtection with Trend Micro for Complete Network Security
Pros: Very Nice router for the money very easy to setup and get running with minimal fuss. Includes Asus's AirCloud which allows storage and syncing to various devices. Dual banded for optimal performance and splitting your wireless traffic to avoid over utilization of any one band. Which is something a lot of folks dont understand. Easily covered my 1200sqft apt. Great overall range as compared to other routers I have reviewed.
Cons: I really dont have any cons to say except maybe the price but as I tell a lot of my customers. With wireless gear you get what you pay for so dont skimp when it comes to a router or you will regret it.
Overall Review: Simply a must buy router if your looking for one with these features. I'd definitely recommend this one to friends and family and heck even an enemy or two.
Its Ok but.....
Pros: Nice and compact. the downloaded software was super easy to setup as is the app for your mobil devices. The software interface is super easy to use and navigate thru. But unfortunately that's about all the pro's I can come up with.
Cons: OK on to the cons and I'll try and be somewhat gentle. First off the wireless usage I found for this to be utter rubbish, as long as I had the ethernet cable connected I had decent playback. Once the cable was removed and I went wireless with this camera I'd have about 10 seconds of footage before it froze up. Now I'm not on an antiquated computer with dial up service. I'm running 2600K oc'd 4.5Ghz xfire 7970's also oc'd on a 30/5Mbps cable connection. I've tested my speeds both wireless and wired repeatedly during testing to verify it was not my wireless service timing out. This camera just simply cut out to a still image after 10 seconds. Also setting it up for wireless as another reviewer stated it wants you to push a WPS button that does not exist. Priced at 149$ one would expect it to be better the picture quality is no where near 720 and is grainy as all get out. Cloud???? what cloud one would assume when seeing a product with cloud in its marketing that it would include either some cloud storage or at least the option to upload it to your own cloud. Nope the only way to store footage with this device is with the micro sd slot which guess what it doesn't even come with a card.
Overall Review: I've reviewed and tested several item from D-LINK and to be honest this was my first disappointing review I've posted for them. Lets hope they take what myself and others have said and tweak it out for the next revision of this device. D-LINK is a solid reputable company my thoughts are this product was rushed into production. While it may be possible I received a defective unit i do not believe so as it does work its just in my honest opinion it could of been a whole lot better.
Corsair Vengence 750M
Pros: Very nice power supply for the money. Semi modular design and silver rating and price put this in the hard to beat category. Corsair has been one of the best power supplier sellers in the world due to their efforts in maintaining very strong relations with some of the best OEM's in the market. I really like this power supply but only gave it 3 stars due to packaging issues detailed in cons. But with its design of 24pin, 4+4 pin eps and daisy chained dual 6+2 pci-e cables hardlined plus 4 more pci-e 6+2 and a secondary 4+4 pin, eps 8 sata and 4 molex being modular, the ability to run a single 12v rail or multi 12v rails and zero fan control its a stellar unit. Very good psu for budget and enthusiast builders alike.
Cons: This is my one con and its all Corsairs fault nothing to due with Newegg at all, as a matter of fact I did not even bother bringing it up to them since its a review unit. This issue could only of come from the manufacturers plant where the units are boxed. I received the 750Watt unit for review but the packing inside was clearly for the 650watt unit as it was missing the secondary 4=4 eps cable one set of the daisy chained 6+2 pci-e cables and more then half the sata cable. I was going to put this in my main rig for testing but the shortage of cables would not of allowed me to run my current configuration. So I was forced to source and build a secondary rig that only needed its limited cables. Not a major issue as contacting Corsair or Newegg would get it sorted out in time, but if this was my only unit I'd be down while waiting on the replacement and or parts to correct the shortages.
Overall Review: Very nice psu for the money dont hesitate to purchase it if your building a budget rig. I have not read the other reviews yet to see if any others had my issue but be aware it may happen. But overall it does the job and does it very well so I give it my recommendation as a solid power supply.
Asus FX504G Gaming Laptop EGGstravagant or Bust??
Pros: OK for starters this lil laptop hosts an I5 8300H 4 core processor that is more than adequate at handling the gaming needs of today's medium to heavy traveling casual gamer. The GTX1050 is as well adequate enough to handle these at the 1080p resolution the display has. It weighs in at a minuscule 5lbs which makes it very portable. 8GB of ddr4 @2666MHz and a M.2 ssd for storage help make this laptop a small powerhouse. 802.11 ac wireless and Bluetooth help keep this laptop connected to whatever you need. Its cooling even manages to keep it well within operating ranges for the cpu and gpu despite running a tad warmish. Keep in mind these temp are kept in check when not running gpu intensive tasks, the gpu actually will shut down and use the ondie Igpu, which helps keep temps down as well as power draw to a min. I really enjoy this laptop despite its short coming detailed below. It was blazing fast and gamed very well ( I've only tested the 2 included games to this point) I'll edit later after I try more if it changes.
Cons: OK so here I'll talk about its short comings. First and formost how can ASUS call this a gaming laptop when it only has 256GB of storage out of the box. First thing I did after opening this and registering it, was to update windows 10 and install the 2 free games. After that I only had 15gb of space left. Come on guys we all know as well as you do that most games these days take a min of 30GB of space, you definitely need to rethink this on a GAMING product. Memory really a single stick of memory great you left me a slot but hey isnt it dual channel?? 2x4GB would of been OK for dual channel but 2x8GB would of been a lot sweeter. And now my biggest gripe which is also storage related, REALLY ASUS what would it of cost you fifty cents to a dollar more to make the included m.2 and NVMe drive?? Just think of how much faster this badboy could of been if you only spent that.
Overall Review: This is a great laptop which can easily be made awesome if you don't mind a little work. I added a 500GB ssd to mine. Its extremely easy to open up and add another drive, ASUS even supplies the screws needed inside the box. I love how light and portable it is, This is replacing my older ASUS laptop which has an I7 4700 series mobile processor. LOL This is where I got my extra 500GB ssd to put in it. To wrap up this is a great laptop for the money just in my honest opinion it could be a lot bet< spend a few more dollars and buy the one with more storage or if your not afrain to pop it open then get this one and do the minor upgrades yourself.
Simply Elegant and Useful
Pros: This review is for the Toshiba Canvio Advance 3TB Portable External Hard Drive USB 3.0 White. Got this awhile back as a review assignment and put it thru the daily tasks an average user would use this for. Basically this unit is suited towards the mobile user. Hence its 5400rpm 3Tb storage drive inside the elegant white exterior. It has both USB 2.0 and 3.0 capabilities and works very well on either. 3TB of storage is ample for just about everyone for everyday use. The unit comes with a couple small files or links on it to direct you to Toshiba's site to download the latest backup and backup security software. The software is super easy to use and even the novice user will have no issues navigating thru it. Come with a single data/power cord. Yes I love this as I no longer have to find a power outlet when I'm out and about with my laptop. Its small form factor is about the size of the average deck of playing cards, making it super convenient portable. Speed is not its forte however but it gets the job done. Running Crystal DiskMark on it at 1GB size netted the following results. This is on a USB 3.0 interface. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- CrystalDiskMark 6.0.0 x64 (C) 2007-2017 hiyohiyo Crystal Dew World : https://crystalmark.info/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- * MB/s = 1,000,000 bytes/s [SATA/600 = 600,000,000 bytes/s] * KB = 1000 bytes, KiB = 1024 bytes Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 134.892 MB/s Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 129.195 MB/s Random Read 4KiB (Q= 8,T= 8) : 0.697 MB/s [ 170.2 IOPS] Random Write 4KiB (Q= 8,T= 8) : 1.897 MB/s [ 463.1 IOPS] Random Read 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 0.712 MB/s [ 173.8 IOPS] Random Write 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 1.570 MB/s [ 383.3 IOPS] Random Read 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 0.592 MB/s [ 144.5 IOPS] Random Write 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 1.531 MB/s [ 373.8 IOPS] Test : 100 MiB [E: 0.1% (1.9/2794.4 GiB)] (x5) [Interval=5 sec] Date : 2018/06/28 12:41:36 OS : Windows 10 Professional [10.0 Build 17134] (x64)
Cons: Knocked off a single star due to speed basically because yes there are faster solutions out there but with this one you cant beat 3TB of storage for 100$ Simply awesome.
Overall Review: Overall I'm impressed by this external storage device. If your in the market for small pretty and efficient storage check this one out you wont regret it.
Corsair Dark Core RGB Mosue meh mouse
Pros: Ultra fast low latency and RGb what more could you ask from a mouse?? IMHO a lot. but this is pro's. So onto the specs. 7 programmable buttons is awesome for those wishing to fine tune their game play. Wired or wireless the choice is yours both offer the same fell while gaming and other computer related experiences. My comp is 99% gaming so I'm basing this review off that. Programmable RGB lighting is nice to have for fine tuning your computers look and feel. I personally feel RGb is over done and adds an unnecessary added cost look at how its jacked up fan costs.
Cons: I felt this mouse dragged across my mouse mat. Unlike the other mice I have used this one I could really feel it. My Glaive glides across it smoothly. 80$ kind of high for this mouse I would not even buy it at 50$ myself and if I did I would return it as unacceptable. I may be biased in that opinion as before my Glaive I used the same mouse for 6 years.
Overall Review: Not a bad mouse but for 80$ I find it lacking. Been using my Corsair Glaive since it was released and love it. Really expected more from their latest iteration of gaming mice.
Missing parts
My case was missing some major parts standoffs side panel screws rubber psu vibration dampers and I/o screws. Contacted raijintek directly since I had modified the motherboard tray NEWEGG was unable to help. Still waiting on tracking info on the parts but to date the contact has been decent with them.
