FINALLY!!!!

Tripp Lite U222-007-R 7-Port USB2.0 Hub
Tripp Lite U222-007-R 7-Port USB2.0 Hub

Pros: This thing is GREAT! After going through a dozen different hubs that worked marginally and then quit, I have FINALLY found one that works the way it should. I runs cool, transfers are not slowed down, connectors are solid, feed wires and PS are good quality and it looks good. I really like the 5 rear ports. I can leave static devices permanently hooked up and use the front ports dynamically. I've worked it VERY hard and have had no data losses like the cheapies caused. I'm buying another one for my test bench. I don't normally write reviews. This item deserves my time.

Cons: Yup...the ports on the front are upside down. It's a so-what? Needed a chain saw to open the packaging.

Junk

BYTECC HD1-SUS Aluminum 2.5" SATA USB 2.0 & eSATA External Enclosure
BYTECC HD1-SUS Aluminum 2.5" SATA USB 2.0 & eSATA External Enclosure

Pros: I've bought and used several of the IDE model of these and love them. Never had a problem with any of them and neither have my customers. Size and look is ideal.

Cons: This model for SATA drives totally stinks. I bought two of them and neither one worked more than twice. The first time they ran they got hot hotter than the coals of hell. I've tested the 320gb drive extensively and it's not hurt. The housing's circuitry seems to require far too much power. I had to use a heavy-duty AC powered hub to get them to respond at all and they overloaded the hub and shut it down. Would not run on any wiring combination off the front or back ports of my gamer w/700w power supply.

Overall Review: I bought the second one so I would have a factory box to send the first one back in. (Destroyed the first box) Guess I'll just have to eat one. A real disappointment. I've successfully used Bytecc housings of different sizes a lot, and always from Newegg.

Great Service and Product as listed

DELL PRECISION T3500 W3540 2.93GHZ CPU 12GB MEM 500GB HDD WINDOWS 7 PRO 64 BIT INSTALLED HD2400 VIDEO CARD

Pros: This unit was shipped fast and came as listed. No issues on setup and first hours of break-in before delivery.

Cons: None so far

XP ONLY!!! ???

Palit GeForce GT 220 1GB DDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Graphics Card NE2T2200FHD01
Palit GeForce GT 220 1GB DDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Graphics Card NE2T2200FHD01

Pros: NONE...at least not for a Vista/Windows 7 64 bit install. Probably OK for Windows XP, but I'm being generous with that statement. While I had it plugged in, it ran quite cool. Of course, there was no processing load on it either.

Cons: Windows 7 does NOT recognize this card and when you force install the drivers, Win7 says "No compatible hardware available for this driver." I tried the drivers from the included disk as well as the latest driver from Nvidia. Stay away!!! Newegg dropped the ball on this as well. There was supposed to be some included video editing software with it on a special deal. I never got it.

Overall Review: This will be my second RMA for refund to Newegg in 10 years, and I buy tons of stuff from them to stock my shop.

They're Junk

Western Digital Caviar SE WD800AAJB 80GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA100 / ATA-6 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: NONE

Cons: Bought 4 of these at once because Newegg was out of Seagates. All four were dead right out of the package. Jumping pins did no good. Put them on my test/recovery bench and Stellar Pheonix couldn't even recognize them. I quit buying WD drives several years ago because of reliability issues and now I will NEVER buy them again.

Outstanding product

SMC LG-ERICSSON EZNET-16SW Unmanaged Unmanaged 16 Ports Switches
SMC LG-ERICSSON EZNET-16SW Unmanaged Unmanaged 16 Ports Switches

Pros: I have purchased 4 of these switches over the past 5 years. Two for my business, the rest for customers. Reliable, simple to install, no wall-wart power supply, high quality. I use two of them in my computer shop 24/7. Highly recommended. Buying another one for home. We have blown 5 or 6 of the small, overheating cheapies on my home network. Enough is enough...I'm going with a known quality unit. One of my shop units did blow a capacitor after 4 years of continuous use. Very obvious blow. Replaced the capacitor in about 10 minutes, put it back in line, and it's still going strong after a year. I don't consider this a negative considering the high traffic hammering that we give these things on a daily basis. Our OS install and update processes are all automated across 13 work bays including two test/recovery centers, two file servers, office computer and 6 terabytes of NAS. We move a LOT of LAN data plus Internet updates and these switches never quiver.

Cons: NONE
