Question 1

So, it appears that the fan could be unplugged from the pigtail coming from the card, and plugged into a chassis fan header on the motherboard, giving some level of control over the fan speed. Has anyone tried this?

I'm already using a Corsair H100i v2 top-mounted 240mm radiator for the CPU in this build, so this graphics solution would have to go into the rear exhaust fan spot as-is.

Question 2

Can I remove nozzles and use my own and my own radiator setup and all? Essentially just purchase this just for the GPU and water block combo or is it all closed off by eVGA?

Im sure you can get to it, but to my knowledge its all sealed. but then i found on evga, that some people replaced with cosiar h80i cooler, so it seems like it is possible, the card runs super cool as is, but overclockers need more. I hope that helps.

Question 3

Does anyone make a back plate for this yet?  They make the side that is pointed down real nice but the side you actually see is ugly circuit board.  Depressing after went thru so much effort to make a good looking computer.

How are you looking at the back end of the GPU? O.o Unless you have an ATX MOBO and have this card sitting in the last PCI slot, you really shouldn't see the back or the GPU.

To directly answer your question? You can check with EK on their website. But the question I would then pose to you is, CAN you add a back-plate to this card and if you can, will it nullify the warranty EVGA has on this card since you will technically be modifying the card? AND if that IS the case, just return the item you have, get a standard 970 and order all you need from EK and build your own water cooled setup from them. And to learn how to do that, check out Jayztwocents on that tube thing you can watch. He shows you how to do all of that.

Question 4

so I bought this about 2 months ago and it runs great. but occasionally it will be at about 55C right when I turn on my computer. thought it was a driver so I reinstalled them. to no avail. its like the pump decides not to run, both my fans are spinning but it doesn't push any heat through the radiator. but the rear exaust is pushing heat like no tomorrow. this doesn't happen everyday. its happened like 3 times since I bought it. once the second week after it was installed. again about 2 weeks ago and again last night. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this happen and if so have you figured out how to fix it?. if I don't get any answers I will be sending it to evga to get it replaced. thank you in advance for any help.

Hi, I have had two of these cards, the first one would get to 47C - 48C running BF4 for hours and the one I using now never gets above 42C. The first one had Elpida memory and the second has Samsung memory, not sure if that made the difference. 55C does seem a little high but not sure what game you are running. Call evga and RMA if you have any doubts.

what does this need for power? my current one needs a 6pin and a 6+2 pin. just xourious if I need to get a new psu or not

I have a EVGA Hadron Hydro Mini-ITX Chassis, what would be the best place or method to mount the radiator/fan?

I have the case as well and would recommend taking out the top two fans and putting the radiator in that way.

Question 7

I was wondering the best way to mount this. I have a H60 cpu cooler installed on my rear exhaust.... would it be better to install this on the rear and the h60 on the top exhaust?

Hi Jon, I would recommend you move your H60 radiator/fan on top of the case. The hose  and wires are much longer in length and no restriction to where you want to mount regarding the orientation. Unlike, the hybrid that has a required position . Unfortunately , the hybrid design has only one place it can sit and that's the rear exhaust .Also if you still have a room to spare add another fan as push n pull or other called sandwich method . It pulls air much effective.
