is USB 3 compatible with USB 2 devices?

USB 2.0 items can be plugged into USB 3.0 and still work. Assuming the hard drive and drivers are up to date. But, the USB 2.0 items will run the same as if they were plugged into 2.0 even though they were plugged into a 3.0.

Question 2

Does this case come with fan filters? I am wondering because I have a very dusty house and don't want dust going into the case while my computer is on.

Yes.  There are three total fan filters on the case.  By pulling up on the bottom of the front panel, you can remove the whole front panel and access the front filter for cleaning.  The top, black mesh piece can also be removed by clicking it out of place, and pulling it up.  The final fan filter is on the bottom of the case, underneath where your power supply fan would be taking in air.  This one can be removed by sliding it out from the back of the case.

So, there is a fan filter for the front two fan mounts, the top two fan mounts, and the bottom power supply intake and fan mount.  There is no filter on the side mesh panel, but I have never had an issue with dust coming through there.

As far as the quality of the filters, my case has been sitting/running in my dusty basement since I built my computer in late 2013, and I have only cleaned it for dust twice.  Both times there was not very much dust buildup inside the case (on the GPU, CPU cooler, etc), but a thin layer of dust on the filters where fans were running.

Big question here brace yourselfs, feedback is highly appreciated beyond belief. I have a set up i put together but idk if it will fit in this case? If it fits im buying this case right now! Will everything fit in here? MOBO: ASUS 1155 Intel Z77-CPU i5 3570k 115-GPU EVGA SC Geforce gtx 760 2GB-PSU Thermaltake atx 700W-CPU cooling water/liquid H60-SSD 840 EVO 2.5" 250GB-RAM G.Skill 8GB. And a few other items im not to worried about. Also! My Mobo may not have enough slots for these fans this case has, Do i need to plug them into my PSU? If so how... I heard you could but not sure how to.. Thanks again all, Your feedback on this would be a bless.

Hi Brandi G, I built a computer using this case during the past weekend.  There is plenty of room inside and I don't think you will have an issue.  The case comes with 4 fans.  Two fans up front, a huge side panel (you can see all three of these in the picture) and a fourth fan in the back.  The side fan plugs into a special fan connection which runs from the two front fans.  All three of these can be powered by a simple MOLEX connection from your PSU.  The rear fan is a 3 pin connection which you will need to connect to your motherboard.  I installed a Corsair H110 liquid cooler.  That fit perfectly in the top of the case and required two additional 3 pin connection.

Would this case fit a Cooler Master EVO 212 without case modification?

I'm almost certain it will. I have the previous iteration of that fan currently installed, and it fits fine.

Do the fans come with the case?

Yes. Two led fans in the front that will blow over your hard drives (led optional with button) a big blue led fan on the inside of the door thing. also optional led with button. And of course the exhaust fan for your CPU heat. Has room for two 60MM fans up top and if you're unhappy with the big side panel fan you can simply unscrew it and replace it with 4 smaller ones

If I were to get this case, should  I get a MB with 3 chassis fan connectors?

Only if you plan on adding more fans later. The rear fan uses 1 connector. The side fan and two front fans are routed through the front control switch and altogether only require 1 connector. There are many more places in the case that fans could be mounted, but the four it came with give this case some serious airflow right away.

Question 7

Is it a fairly quiet case? I produce music so I would like a very quiet case.

The 500R is quiet for a high air flow case, the case fans are quiet at low speed when using the built in fan controller on the front panel. I would not recommend this case for producing music, this case was not meant for that market segment. However, if you use large graphics cards for gaming or overclock or use a high voltage AMD cpu  then this game will server you well.

does this support an optical drive?

It has 4 External 5.25" Drive Bays, that means you can mount at most 4 optical drive.

Question 9

Which way are you supposed to orient your power supply in this case? Fan towards the ground or fan towards the mobo?

Hi Thom,
You install the PSU in this case with the fan intake pointing twords the bottom. This allows the PSU to be on its own air flow taking air in from the bottom and exhausting it out the back. It helps with keeping your build cooled.

Does it come with the fans? I looked, but can't seem to find that answer. IF it does...should I be looking into an upgrade though?

Yes it has four fans included. There are two intake fans on the front, one larger intake fan on the side and, one exhaust fan on the rear above the power supply. All these are pretty much standard for a case of this size. You can mount two extra intake/exhaust fans on the bottom and two more on the top. Obviously you would want one set taking in air and the other set venting it out. For example, have the bottom ones circulating it in and have the top ones pushing it out.
