I'm not too sure.  I know that my family switched providers once or twice from Comcast (Xfinity) to AT&T and back again, but my family also uses an ASUS Router, with the cable providers' Modem.  I don't know if this helps, but I'm very happy with my purchase.

1) Does this work with Windows 10?
2) How well does this work with games?

1) Yes this works no problem with windows 10 - that was with an upgrade from 7 and not a fresh install either

2) Same as #1, no problems with games either (WoW raiding, bf4 64 player servers). Just make sure your router can handle games as well.

***You can also install just the drivers without the asus utility. They should be on the website under support. The utility just shows and displays signals and allows you to connect to them, which windows already does..

Question 3

Will this work in a laptop expresscard slot? 3yr old Sony VPCF12RGX/B Windows 7 64bit, i7, SSD etc. I tried to find the specific card info but could not. Didn't know if this was only for desktops, I need something like this for my laptop, just upgraded router.

@Richard W. This will unfortunately not work in that express card slot for your laptop. This card is too large and is for desktops only. If you are looking for a better wireless choice for your laptop you should look into USB adaptors for wireless networking. They can be fast, normally not dual-band, but if you are a lack off speed in your Wi-Fi. Look into a new router or modem. If you need range, look into a better modem.

Anyone know if this is compatible with windows 10? Need a wireless solution for desktop and it seems my old adapter is no longer supported.

Yes, it does work with Windows 10. I've completed the upgrade to Win 10 and it's been working fine.

Guess my question is. Does this take the place of a wireless router or not? or do I need a router; atm I use a lynksis and have all my stuff TV, phone, tablet, printer etc running through that. It's not working the greatest anymore and I guess Im wondering if this will be able to take its place and be able to route everything through this or not?

This is a wireless signal receiving antenna. You would still need a router to broadcast the signal. If you're asking this question I don't think you want to open up your computer to install this device.

How would this work for a pci-e slot? it says pci-e adapter but I am confused if I should buy this because my slots are for pci-e only

It's a pci-e card; it'll work fine in a pci-e slot.  It's the shortest pci-e, so any length pci-e slot will be sufficient--you don't need the full length pci-e available.

Can anyone confirm the PCE-AC56 works with Windows 8.1? I just got an email response from Asus saying it's not supported yet. That it may be in the future.

I'm running Windows 8.1 with the PCE-AC56 and everything works great... I wasn't aware it wasn't supported on Windows 8.1. I did't run into a single issue during of after install the board (last week). I didn't have to hack anything to get it to work.  I'm using it with a Gigabyte G1 Sniper Z97 Gaming board.

My son has a wireless desktop and I want to make mine wireless also. The wireless desktop works fine. We only had a modem and it worked fine. Bought a router and this adapter that plugs into the usb port but the non wireless desktop does not work as well as the wireless. It bogs down when downloading and wont perform other things either. Would this thing work better. I am not computer literate and need to know what is the best solution to make this non wireless desktop work like the wireless desktop?

I have a Comcast modem/router that my old desktop wireless card had issue connecting to, it would either connect for a few minutes and just disconnect randomly, or not even connect at all, which was weird because all my other electronics connected just fine. I bought this card because I love Asus and wanted a brand I could trust and to put good money in a card. This did the trick for me, it picked up the signal at full bars from the other side of the house and haven't had any issues since. If I read your question right, you're using a USB wireless receiver? From my experience those won't deliver the same wifi signal receiving capabilities as a wireless card would. You might be better off going with a cheaper card then thisif that's the case, but if you want a very nice card, you get what you pay for with this one.
