Solid Board, Great Value
Pros: There's genuinely nothing bad about it. It's just a good, versatile motherboard. - Z490 chipset, meaning it's overclockable. - 4 DIMM slots for RAM. - Built in Intel AX201 Wi-Fi with Bluetooth. - Two M.2 slots, including a heatsink. - Plenty of USB ports, including 1 x USB-C, 3 x USB 3.2 and 2 x USB 2.0. - Both DisplayPort and HDMI. - Looks very nice, has full RGB light array around Z490 chipset.
Cons: - The BIOS is laid out a bit strangely. It has a lot of features, but it can be difficult to navigate. - I wish the RAM slots were even just a few millimeters further away from the CPU socket. My larger CPU heatsink is slightly overlapping the first slot. Thankfully, I'm only using 2 slots and the first one is unused. - The M.2 heatsink feels a bit cheap, doubt that it works all that well. - Only PCIe 3.0, not PCIe 4.0 (not MSI's fault, Intel does not support PCIe 4.0 on LGA 1200).
Overall Review: If it's not obvious, most of the cons are just nitpicking. It's a solid board that's packed with features for a great price. I'm very happy with it. That being said, here are a few things you should know before buying: - If you plan to do extensive overclocking, make sure you get a PSU that has both an 8-pin ATX12V as well as another 4+4-pin ATX12V. You'll need both. No overclocking? Just the one 8-pin is fine. - Pay attention to the width of whatever CPU heatsink/fan combo you are using. My heatsink is 60mm wide with a 25mm deep fan. If you plan to use all 4 RAM slots, make sure your combo is thinner than mine. A few things that I really enjoy about this board: - I really like that the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are "integrated". It's cheaper than buying a comparable board and separate wireless card, and it takes up one less slot on the board (not that I'm worried about running out of slots.) - There are a lot of mATX boards that only come with 2 DIMMs for RAM. That's usually fine, but the flexibility to upgrade down the road is great to have. - I genuinely do not think I will ever run out of USB ports. - It's such a small thing, but the EZ Debug LEDs are great. First go around, RAM wasn't seated properly and it eliminated the headache and guesswork by instantly showing me the problem was with the RAM. Gorgeous. Compact. Cable Management.
Pros: - I just think this case is so classy looking. - Feels very sturdy. - Fans are actually really good! Very quiet, great airflow. - Shroud covering PSU and 3.5" drives is perfect, great cable management. - Plenty of room for a good GPU and easily fits every PSU I was looking at. - It fits up to 3 x 2.5" and 2 x 3.5" drives.
Cons: - I wish so badly that it was a bit thinner. But if it were thinner, I don't think I could have fit a good CPU cooler. - There are only 2 fans?
Overall Review: Honestly, the brushed aluminum + glass look is timeless and classy. The fans do a great job of maintaining that aesthetic. This is a super flexible case. I liked it when it arrived, I liked it more when I was installing everything, and after messing around with it I think it's fantastic. 10/10.
Great Heatsink, but Fan could be Better
Pros: - Heatsink does its job very well, for a great price. - Fan is good, but not great. - Red LEDs on fan are cool. - I'm pretty sure it came with some thermal compound? I can't completely remember.
Cons: - This fan seems to be the noisiest component in my otherwise-whisper quiet PC. Bearing seem to be a little bit lower quality. - I wish the heatsink was about 10mm thinner. It's severely cramped on my mATX board. Might keep me from using all of my DIMMs.
Overall Review: I would very much recommend this item, but only if you *know* your DIMMs aren't too close to the CPU.
