USB Cam Addon to a Linux box
Pros: looks great at1280x720 and 30FPS would be an excellent unit for employee ID tags (has a tripod mount thd.) will sit upon the top of a LCD screen (has no spring on the clip, but has good friction in clip) Nice wide angle without to much fisheye
Cons: the camera is a little wide (like 4") Still working on the audio in? (Linux - Pulse - Camera - settings) Not sure this is a Camera issue or?
Overall Review: Using Linux Mint 18 or 20 std. setup through USB3.0 I had to install "Guvcview" and wow, what a great combination! after Guvcview packages installed, it was just plug and play. I give the camera a grade A, and A+ for Guvcview.
first one locked into a boot loop
Pros: Newegg is sending a replacement :) Hope it does not have the same problem.
Cons: I am sad that Newegg droped their tech support, it would have been great to know if the boot loop was endemic to this model, or I just got a bad apple, or? I guess now Newegg is just a wharehouse, same as the A place ugh :(
Overall Review: I got a DOE +/- out of 25+ Boots, I made it to the bios twice, and launched the OS once. It Passed; mem test + short file xfer test on OS launch but on reboot. The rest of the boots were restart, restart, restart, ... boot loops, ugh! Please note: I did, and you must select other os in the bios if you are not doing windows. Also, I could not select the m2 for the boot disk??????
running almost fanless 65TDW
Pros: Works great as installed: 1.) LIAN LI PC-V600FR Red Aluminum MicroATX Mini Tower Computer Case 2.) SeaSonic Platinum Series SS-400FL2 Active PFC F3 400W ATX12V Fanless 80 PLUS Platinum Modular Active PFC Power Supply 3.) GIGABYTE GA-F2A88XM-D3HP (rev. 1.0) FM2+ AMD A88X (Bolton D4) SATA 6Gb/s Micro ATX AMD Motherboard 4.) G.SKILL TridentX Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 5.) AMD A10-7860K Quad-Core Socket FM2+ 65W AD786KYBJCSBX Desktop Processor AMD Radeon R7 and "be quiet! PURE ROCK CPU Cooler - 150W TDP " All of this running with just the 140mm mid tower case fan blowing out the top at 450 to 480RPM = OK; very very quite! = the iphone5 could not tell it was on from 3 feet away,= no Db change from quite room. stress testing = 58C for the CPU, 30C for the Board, and the hard drive reported 25C
Cons: A.) The big deal; which is very bad; is the pre-applied heat paste had wood chips in it UGH!!!!!!! (had to fix this) B.) This is a tall unit (check spec.) just fits my case. It is using the cover pushing on the the top of the heat pipes = touches case side. C.) The AMD mount is not very tight = almost lose and can rotate but not enough to move side to side. D.) I had to bend some fins on the lower side, for Ram clearance UGH! (had to fix this issue)
Overall Review: For a low watt build, this did work almost fanless, which gets me a quite system (great everyday computer) = No games and quite, but it does have some issues: see cons, However it allowed me to enjoy using my computer again, so that is why the 5 stars. Revised run conditions (I did need to run the CPU fan) under heavy loading I hit 60C (fan attached = 43 Max)
Better than ASUS
Pros: Amazing when compared to ASUS A88XM-A/USB 3.1 FM2+ AMD A88X 1.) Can run the ram at rated speed 2133 which the ASUS did not 2.) has 8 SATA conn 3.) seams 1.5 times faster than the ASUS board with same CPU and RAM 4.) Has 3 fan connectors (1 CPU, 2 case) but I am only using one
Cons: A.) It is a big micro ATX = square or 1.5" deeper than the ASUS board = just fit in my case
Overall Review: This works for a low power but snappy build. (how I got to this board): I bought the ASUS at Newegg and after some use on my part, they were kind enough to allow me to return it based upon dislike (ok had it had RAM speed issues) I replaced it with this board, which is great, and no issues. I would say Newegg is a 6 star company for helping me get to this board. THANKS your's is one of the good companies.
Another review about BIOS, or the lack of
Pros: boots most of the time, well mostly
Cons: 1.) All of the other Bios related reviews are true. 2.) Asus built this board, with a bios not quite good enough, and then abandoned it. (I would not buy this board again) Yes they are putting effort in to the A4 socket boards (and you know what; you should buy one of those! although they are newer at least Asus is fixing them.) 3.) The fan speed settings within the bios on this one, will not let your case fan go below 60% I have a 120 and it feels like the AC is on. My service request to ASUS = WTM20170304021434413 has gone unanswered. 4.) memory issues (see other reviews for voltage issues in power saving modes) This will not kill me, but makes the power saving mode = no power saving. All in all if they fixed some of the power, fan and boot issues, this could be a 5 star board but as is (I may need to replace it) UGH
Overall Review: really bummed they still sell this, as it is a pretty worthless without fixing known bios bugs. I missed the review that stated that Asus abandoned it. Now I know what they were saying.
IO errors
Pros: It is a big drive, and installed without any problems, seamed to partition OK But.
Cons: Well now it is a couple of weeks later, and gess what, I am getting IO errors out of this drive. UGH!!! Not sure but it looks like the disk ram as I can acces the files and they look OK but, The drive allows only a small copy of less than 1Gig, then it will lock up I.e. I/O error superblock failure. Only way out is rebooting. I guess I am goin to have to see about a RMA. Ugh!
Overall Review: The guy with the thirty drives, noted a pretty large failure rate! (wish I would have taken note)
Not for mATX (unless you have extra standoffs)
They did not send any stand offs for smaller than ATX Mother boards but did send a screwdriver adapter to install such standoffs?? made me scratch my head. This is a good case, with great fans but the threaded parts are a bit loose +/- B+ for case. A for cost/value
