Pros: Quiet, powerful and a terrific price for all that's included. This product was compared with other IBUYPOWER models offered through NewEgg as well as compared to models on the IBUYPOWER website directly and it's the best of the bunch in my opinion for the cost and quality. This system has 2 DVD drives, one is Blu-Ray (viewing only) and one is a standard DVD drive but that's more than enough. It comes with 12 gigs of DDR3 RAM and that's very impressive. The video card from ATI is top notch and is Direct-X 11 capable. I'm not sure what allows this but I took one of those free on-line speed tests and compared all 4 of my computers ranging from low-end P4 Emachines running XP sp3 to this monster and the results were staggering. I have Cox broadband and pay for the next to the top package and on this machine download speeds were in the 20 to 26 MBPS range with 1.5 to 2.0 MBPS uploads. On my emachine with XP the numbers were between 6 to 8 MBPS for downloads.
Cons: My first machine ordered beginning of April 2010 was defective, in that the amount of recognized RAM was only 8 MB instead of 12. I checked to make sure it didn't get shaken lose on shipping, opened the case to be sure and checked both the BIOS and Windows 7 for confirmation. I contacted NewEgg and the customer service rep (located in the United States) was helpful and friendly. She said I could either try contacting the manufacturer of the RAM for testing/replacement or I could send the entire machine back to NewEgg for a replacement. I didn't want to go the route of the RAM maker blaming the motherboard maker who blames someone else. It was easiest to send the machine back. Shipping back was free and the new machine was at my door within a week of sending it back. The new machine was flawless. Interestingly, the new machine's BIOS was an updated version from the last machine and I welcomed the update. In closing NewEgg stands behind the product.
Deceptive advertising
Cons: On the Tekreplay website this item was advertised as "new". When it arrived the "power button" did not always work so sometimes the ipad would illuminate, other times it would not. Once the screen illuminated everything worked great. The problem is that it wasn't consistent and required that button to be pressed multiple times to have it eventually light up. I don't believe this to be a software issue. The main reason I'm writing this negative review is when I sought to have the item repaired I was told I could send it in for a possible replacement or if none were available I could get a refund. I appreciate that offer. My complaint is that I wanted to simply have Apple repair the problem because if it is truly "new" as advertised than the Manufacture Warranty should apply. If this provider doesn't have "any" new items than they shouldn't try to trick consumers into thinking what they are buying is new.
Overall Review: Product is good but deceptive advertising because they don't have any "new" items only reburbished. If you don't mind rolling the dice on the product working as expected go for it. As for me. I won't do this again. Saving a few bucks isn't worth the risk.
Ok but item arrived damaged - specifically power button doesn't work consistently
When I sent an email I did receive a response the next day. In that email it said a "return mailing label" was attached but that wasn't the case. I emailed back immediately and have not heard back.
