Is it a genuine Lenovo Thinkpad Ethernet Extension Gen 2 compatiable with ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 6?

In add to my original comment...I find the Lenovo ethernet dongle to be hit or miss.  Often times the X1 C G6 doesn't recognize the dongle immediately, which is very odd.  Since using the lenovo ethernet dongle blocks the USB-C port right next to it, I would just get a USB-C ethernet dongle instead.  I use the iogear GUC3C01 USB-C 3.1 ethernet dongle and find it works much better.

Is this the correct adapter for Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 7 (2019)?

Short answer, I don't know, but I'll give you at least some info.

I purchased this adapter for the dedicated Lenovo proprietary network port on my 2019 Lenovo X1 Extreme and it did not fit... but I'm not sure about your X1 Carbon Gen 7. I later contacted Lenovo about the issue and they told me they didn't have any adapters that fit the special network port for my X1 Extreme, and so I ended up buying Lenovo's USB-C to ethernet adapter (Lenovo part number 4X90S91831) instead.
