will this work with workstations running windows 10?

It should work fine, the initial setup program does run in windows 10. Then after the fact it should work independently of any OS, similar to a Linux Samba share.

Does this system require a Windows OS to configure, or can it be entirely done from Linux?

This can be done from a web browser. I used Google Chrome personally. There is a windows setup that comes with it to make things easier, but there is a web interface for the settings. The base OS of this is linux based as well.

Does this support RAID 1?

It comes configured with raid 1. Ours has been working for 12 months & so far, no issues.

Does this contain any ram?

This model includes 256MB (DDR3) that is used by the controller to manage system operations and the web-enabled management interface.

If I want to connect this to a PC and then share the drives, can I use the USB port to connect this drive to the PC?

That's exactly what I wanted to do with this drive, and it turns out no, you can't.

White under normal operation. Never had an issue but I suspect it changes when there’s a problem.

Can several computers access the shares at once?

Yes. Shares show up just like any file share on a server would.
