Great Monitor

ASUS MB169B+ 16" (Actual size 15.6") 16:9 Widescreen LED Backlight Full HD Portable USB 3.0 Asus-Exclusive Extreme Low Motion Blur SYNC with Eye Care Technology USB-powered IPS Portable Monitor
ASUS MB169B+ 16" (Actual size 15.6") 16:9 Widescreen LED Backlight Full HD Portable USB 3.0 Asus-Exclusive Extreme Low Motion Blur SYNC with Eye Care Technology USB-powered IPS Portable Monitor

Pros: Light Works with USB2 as well Nice case It is very thin so you can easily have it in your laptop bag. I would like to have the stand somehow built it to the monitor but that would just increase the overall weight. The stand is acceptable for the monitor. Lower brightness means you last longer on battery and you can adjust it with buttons on the side.

Cons: Needed driver even with windows 10. For some reason I can't get the auto turn to work. Not a big deal for me.

Expensive Meh!

G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200) Desktop Memory Model F3-2400C10D-8GZH
G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200) Desktop Memory Model F3-2400C10D-8GZH

Pros: Looks cool.

Cons: Perhaps not for AMD FX series. Windows 8.1 crashes with memory management and failed system call codes. The pass mark results in 2400 Mhz is lower than a typical 1600 @ 9-9-9-24 RAM. Tried to RMA to newegg but found out that the free gift from AMD (which was an empty scratch to win) is not refundable and will cost me $20. So I am stuck with this thing running at 1600 and 11-11-11-28 which is similar to DDR3 1333. Stay away from this memory if you have AMD FX CPU.

Great RAID card

Adaptec RAID 6405E 2271700-R 6 Gb/s SATA / SAS 4 internal ports w/ 128MB cache memory Controller Card, Kit
Adaptec RAID 6405E 2271700-R 6 Gb/s SATA / SAS 4 internal ports w/ 128MB cache memory Controller Card, Kit

Pros: This is a great card for the price; just make sure that you disable the write cache so you don't lose data with power failure. This worked great with supermicro board but If you are building this for ESXi be aware that this Adaptec card needs the drivers so you either have to build a custom install media which I didn't like or install it on another media a flash and then install the vib driver by SCPing the vib to ESXi and install it in command line. after that ESXi will recognize the blank storage and will create your datastore on RAID drive. This way only VMs are secured from HDD failure and not ESXi itself but rebuilding and adding the VMs to another new flash takes only 10-20 mins which is shorter than looking for your custom made image of ESXi :) Here is the working link for the working driver: https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/details?downloadGroup=DT-ESXI60-PMC-AACRAID-62141024&productId=529 Here is the guide for installing VIB file in ESXi shell which is the same as ESXi 5.5 (Worked for me): http://www.adaptec.com/en-us/support/infocenter/release-2015-1/index.jsp?topic=/adaptec_cli.xml/Topics/Installing_on_VMware_ESXi6.0_ESXi5.5.html

Cons: non maybe PCI-e X1?

Overall Review: Your system defiantly needs a UPS with this card as card has no battery. So if write cache is enabled without a UPS power failure can make you lose data.

Great board

SUPERMICRO MBD-X10SL7-F-O Micro ATX Server Motherboard LGA 1150 Intel C222 DDR3 1600

Pros: Very solid and stable board. This is my second experience with Supermicro and is much better than other one. Paired with: E3-1241v3 Adaptec RAID 6405E Kingstone KVR16LE11/8I X 2 Black WD2003FZEX 2TB X 2

Cons: Non.

Good Product

ASUS Transformer Book T100TA-DB11T-CA Intel Atom 2GB Memory 32GB Flash 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet Windows 8.1 32-bit
ASUS Transformer Book T100TA-DB11T-CA Intel Atom 2GB Memory 32GB Flash 10.1" Touchscreen Tablet Windows 8.1 32-bit

Pros: For the price of a tablet you get a very nice and tiny laptop that can work in every tight corner of server room. This has a hynex flash based storage and it is defiantly better than MMC or SD type. It is only 32 GB but you can add another 32 GB with very nice and reasonably priced SD cards. In fact since it doesn't take HDD or SSD makes it lighter and gives you certaily more battery life. I am getting a full day job done with a single charge which lasts about 7-8 hours peak. The best part of this laptop is the CPU actually. You may think what a 1.46 GHz atom can do for me but let me tell you: This guy turbo boosts even at 100% CPU load to 2.4 GHz much better that going to turbo speed when only one of the cores works only or cpu is less than 100% it boots in 15 secs which is more than acceptable for this guy with the nice little CPU flash. 2 GB RAM is very good for what you can do for as long as 7-8 hours in the 10 inch dsiplay that has more resolution than my older macbook pro! The dedicated USB 3 port is very nice but it can also give you more with the OTG cable over the charging micro USB port. Finally it has the HDMI output that I haven't tested yet. Asus has an app on this that manages the gestures on the track-pad as well so it is easier to change you scrolling direction and get a few fancy gestures like the ones OSX has. The touch screen is also very responsive but I don't use it anyways! Wireless is dual band and I like it. The only thing is since the battery has enough capacity I wish the keyboard was illuminated which is very handy in server room and when you are working in low light in emergency condition. last but not least : Asus equipped this tiny toy with TPM module so if you update your windows to pro grade on this you can have the windows bitlocker without messing with settings to ignore not having it. The real complain is since it is considered as a laptop you should take it out from your bag in the airport security! :D

Cons: none

Amazing!

AMD FX-8320 - FX-8000 Series Vishera 8-Core 3.5 GHz (4.0 GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W Desktop Processor - FD8320FRHKBOX
AMD FX-8320 - FX-8000 Series Vishera 8-Core 3.5 GHz (4.0 GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W Desktop Processor - FD8320FRHKBOX

Pros: Great budget CPU! Actually no! just change the multiplier from 17 to 21 and becomes 8350 which beats any i5 at the price. I use this for Matlab simulations with Parallel Computing toolbox and Matlab loves it very much! No need for 8350! I got this for $129 on sale! :D With a bit of tuning stands against i7 and is $130 cheaper. For power Ok your intel is 77 or 85 watt but do the math: How long does it take to recover your $130 with say 50 Watt saving! Do you keep any CPU that long????

Cons: NA DA
