Slower then I expected
Overall Review: I should have realized that because it is connected to the NAS bt eSATA that it would most likely not as fast as the NAS. I have my NAS connected to a 10gb port and the NAs also has a 10gb port. I can get between 750 MB/s to 1GB/s transfer rate. To this expansion unit I get about 250 MB/s. I am not saying that is a bad thing, just making sure that you are aware.
Will not allow POST
Pros: None
Cons: I tried this in 2 known good systems: Asus A8N-SLI rev 2 (PCI 32 bit slot only) Tyan Thunder S2469 rev .04 (both in PCI 64 bit and PCI 32 bit slots) Neither system would POST with this card in. Assuming card is DOA and applied for and received RAM.
The fastest I tested so far
Overall Review: This 512 GB card is much better than the ADATA 512GB Premier Pro which has the same rating. The ADATA has a write speed of about 20MB/s, this Sandisk Extreme 512 GB has a write speed of about 75 MB/s. Much faster. Adata is lying.
Mixed feelings on this one
Overall Review: I put his in a VIOFO A229 Pro 2ch dash cam. Front is set for 4k hdr, rear is set for 2k hdr. It's working, but the write speeds are weird. Through a mix of multi-media files I get mostly about 20 MB/s, but I get peaks on occasion to about 60 MB/s as reported by win10. Speeds are similar between my Wavlink adapter and my OWC thunderbolt dock sd card port.
Nice Performace
Overall Review: Paired this Minisopuru 40Gbps M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure with a Samsung 980 Pro 2TB SSD. According to Samsung Magician the benchmarks were: sequential read - 2662MB/s, sequential write 2714 MB/s, Random Read - 353759 IOPS, random write 136718 IOPS. Do not forget to enable write cache Update - I also got a Acasis TBU405ProM1. Both are using a 980 Pro. The performance between the two are very similar. I think the heat transfer between the ssd and the housing is better with the Minisopuru. Because of the construction of the Acasis I am not sure how much more effective cooling is by the addition of the fan. Although there are reviews that say the fan model is cooler. I had the use both silicone pads on the Acasis to get good contact with the housing. Both recognize my ssds as genuine. Magician benchmarks the ssd in the Acasis adapter as: 2565 MB/s seq read, 2723 MB/s Seq write, 341552 iops ran read, 137451 iops ran write. Both units wrote 696 GB of flac audio files at 2.0 - 1.26 GBps with an approximate average of 1.56 GBps.
Works good on my rig
Overall Review: I got the 32G flavor. I get over 72MB/s write and over 82MB/s read formated as exFAT on win10. Transfer rate does depend a lot the type of file being transfered. I used a mix of video and audio files for my testing. The size of my transfer filed the entire sd card. I do not know why others report slower speeds with this card. I have use A LOT of these cards and this performance is typical.
