Solid Little Inverter
Pros: I have owned this inverter for over 3 years and it performed flawlessly until it inevitably died (see Other Thoughts). It worked well for everything I used it for - laptop computer, portable DVD player, cell phone charger, and camera battery chargers. It has a sturdy metal construction and it's very small, it fit well in my tiny glovebox when not in use.
Cons: The on/off switch is a bit too close to the outlet plug. The fuse on the back side seems to stick out further than it needs to, but if you're careful it's not a problem.
Overall Review: While it did die after 3 years of very frequent use (I checked this by trying it in different vehicles, changing the fuse, and cycling the power switch), it wouldn't be fair to view that as a con, and it shouldn't discourage anyone who is considering this item from buying it. Considering the length of time it did work perfectly, it's very inexpensive price, and the fact that it saved me a lot of money by not having to buy individual car adapters for each device I used the inverter for, it's been a great value and I would definitely recommend it. If I hadn't found a different inverter with a bit more power and a fan, I would have bought another one of these for sure. And speaking of fans, I'm not sure if this inverters lack of a fan is a pro or a con.....
Excellent Logitech Mouse!
Pros: This is without a doubt the best mouse I have ever used. The Nano receiver is outstanding. It's tiny, sticks out of the USB port less than half an inch, and provides incredible range. It can also be stored inside the mouse. It doesn't suffer from any interference, even with two Xbox 360 controllers and my phone being used in the same room, all of which are 2.4GHz The laser tracking is equally outstanding, way better than the MS optical mice I have previously used. It tracks great on every surface I have tried it on. The size is just right and it's got some weight, which I like. The power button is a nice touch. It's a simple 3 button mouse that doesn't require drivers (but you can download them if you want), and XP/Vista recognize it without problems. The glossy black finish is sexy and a perfect match for my Asus EEE PC. And finally, believe it or not, the AA batteries are actually included!
Cons: The scroll wheel sounds kind of cheap as it turns. It would be nice if the mouse would automatically turn off when the computer is shut down. Requires 2 AA batteries. To be fair, I don't think any of those things are "real" cons. I think it's a pretty much flawless mouse, I was just trying to think of something the most nit-picky person might say.
Overall Review: This mouse isn't exactly inexpensive, but it wouldn't be fair to say price is a con, because you definitely get what you pay for. The tiny receiver and awesome tracking make this worth every penny. I wish I would have got this a long time ago. I will never use another cheesy MS optical mouse with a huge two inch receiver again!
Inexpensive Performance Boost
Pros: This Transcend RAM is a great deal! It's working flawlessly. The very low price and the performance gains make this a great investment. I can't say that the difference in performance in my EEE PC is night and day, but it's noticeably quicker, and it's nice knowing the extra resources are there if I need it. If you're running Vista and/or memory hungry apps, the improvement will be that much more noticeable.
Cons: There really are no cons. Just make sure that this chip is compatible with your PC and you'll be good to go...
Overall Review: I bought this for my Asus EEE PC 900HA with Windows XP. Installation was simple! On your first bootup after installing, run the BIOS (F2) before Windows starts. It will show that you have 2048MB of RAM. Exit and enjoy. Windows will not recognize the extra memory on my EEE without booting the BIOS first. This is my first experience with Transcend and I'm very happy. If I need to upgrade memory in my desktop or full size laptop, I will definitely consider Transcend in the future!
SanDisk is THE BEST!
Pros: This CF card is outstanding! It's exactly what you can expect from SanDisk. This card is very fast, very reliable, cheap and compatible with everything. The only CF and SD cards I use are Sandisk because I have 10 of their memory cards and have never had a single problem with any of them. Over the years my cards have been subjected to temperature extremes and countless formatting and have never let me down. There's a reason why pros use them - they are simply the best! In my 10MP Rebel XTi I get over 1000 top quality jpeg shots at ISO 100 and over 700 at ISO 1600. The camera writes, reads, and formats this card extremely fast! It's perfect for a DSLR or anything else for that matter. File transfers on PC are also very fast. If you're looking for a CF card, this is the one to get. It's rock solid.
Cons: There are truly zero cons!
Overall Review: With SDHC gaining popularity, I can't help but wonder if Compact Flash will become obsolete. Either way, flash memory prices are falling fast, and SanDisk is still the very best, regardless of format. And of course, Neweggs prices, service and shipping are top notch, too!
Great Ink, Great Value!
Pros: This is a great deal for all 5 colors for my HP Photosmart D7160. HP makes great printers and this high quality ink produces outstanding, professional looking prints! These cartridges yield a LOT of prints and the prints will last a lifetime. As always, Neweggs price is great - it's much cheaper here than buying this combo pack directly from HP!
Cons: Zero cons. Just remember that this pack contains just the colors and excludes black.
Overall Review: I had always bought my ink direct from HP or from local stores. I have been a happy Newegg customer for many years and the thought of buying my ink here had never crossed my mind until recently. Not smart. I wish I would have thought of it sooner because I could have saved myself a lot of money. Need ink? Do yourself a favor and get it here. Thanks Newegg!
COD2 - A Great Classic!
Pros: Even in 2009, this is still a great game! The graphics, animation and sound are great, almost as good as the other games in the COD series, which was a pleasant surprise since this was an Xbox 360 launch game. The storyline is very in-depth and based on actual events of World War 2, and the cut scenes between missions are informative. The weapons and vehicles are true to the time period, and there are some very large scale, action packed battles. Surprisingly, there are still quite a few people playing this online. You get your typical choices when playing an online shooter: ranked or unranked, deathmatch, team deathmatch, and some objective games. I haven't experienced any lag online. I'm an average skilled gamer, and the balance between campaign difficulty while still being a lot of fun is perfect.
Cons: There's a couple cons, all minor. There's a very low tolerance for friendly fire. If you accidentally hit a friendly with even one stray bullet, you revert to your last checkpoint. While that does add some realism, sometimes the AI will run through your line of fire, but you're the one penalized. Some of the in-game dialogue is a bit repetitive. There's only maybe a dozen phrases you hear during battles and they're repeated over and over. I don't see any cons in online play, however people who like to review pages and pages of statistics won't find that here. In that regard, this game is kept more simple than a lot of newer shooting games.
Overall Review: I had never played this game prior to buying it here from Newegg, but I'm a fan of the other Call of Duty games. I figured since it was cheap and all the achievements were for the single player campaign, I'd give it a try. I love this game and it has exceeded my expectations. Any gamer who's a fan of WWII history will enjoy this game. And while there's not a huge selection of high-tech guns, this should be a fun game for anyone who just likes shooting games. Don't think that just because it's an older game that it's not awesome, because it is! It's a lot of fun, and that's what it's all about!
