EVGA keeps selling me nice things.
Pros: It was nice to get to check that the PSU was working before installing it. The power-on tester is a nice addition. Quiet - dead silent at low load because the fan is off, still quite quiet at higher loads when the fan is spinning. Black, low-density sleeves on the cables are nice, if not exactly fancy-build ready.
Cons: nil
Overall Review: I always end up buying something from EVGA for a new build. Usually a GPU, but... well, we all know how that market is right now. It's nice to see that EVGA makes other parts as well as they do their GPUs.
Satisfactory, but only just.
Pros: Nice BIOS setup. Well constructed. Solid and perfect fit. Well supported by Linux kernel.
Cons: Odd iommu implementation. Linux doesn't play all that well with it, have to use iommu=soft on kernel load. USB 3 ports finicky (because of above). Generated a low frequency buzz that could be heard through the on-board sound, and through a USB sound device, seemed to react to data on the PCIe bus. Quite annoying.
Overall Review: running Linux Mint 18 on this board with kernel 4.4.0 Later Kernels, too. Save for the poor IOMMU implementation, this board was fine with Linux.
Plug & play
Pros: Performs as expected. Reliable enough to forget you have it.
Cons: None
Overall Review: Was supported by Linux kernels 4.19, 5.3, and 5.4 without issue.
Attractive frame
Pros: Does a very good job of stopping the ever present cat hair, along with other things I'd rather not have in my computer case. Magnet frame works well, even around a fan that doen't have a lot of metal to connect with. Magnetic frame makes it very easy to clean it and the fan behind it.
Cons: Nil
Overall Review: This is the first time I can say that my cats willingly participated in testing the product. With gusto, no less. I think I get about one full cat's worth of fuzz off this filter every week.
Does what... it wasn't intended to do?
Pros: Quite a nice, solid bit of neoprene. Tough enough to have no marks left when one of my cats gave it a solid bite-n-shake.
Cons: Nil
Overall Review: Using this not as a wrist rest, but on the other side of my keyboard - to give my cat a place to lay her head while visiting me at my desk that is not the function keys and media keys of my keyboard. It has been totally successful. Cat Comfort Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Quite nice
Pros: Plug it in. Walk away. Forget it exists.
Cons: Nil
Overall Review: Small and light. Good double-screw mounting if you prefer that over setting in a table (as I do, because it cat-proofs it). I experienced a slight (~8%) improvement in sustained transfer speeds over using the hub on the back of the cable modem. I bought this because our cable modem went bad, and not having our local network while waiting on its replacement was intolerable.
