So if I'm reading it correctly, this external enclosure would work with a PNY 240GB CS1111 internal 2.5 inch SATA III Value Solid State Drive? I want to use it to do disk image backups of my main SSD in the laptop. And yes, I already have the extra SSD. lol

Steve. Yes this will work with any SATA SSD. There is a little problem or inconvenience that you may encounter. The enclose fits most 2.5 HDD as well and they can be a fraction of an inch larger. You may have to put in a small filler to keep the drive snug. That is the SSD as well as some of the newer HHD are smaller than older drives. I cut off a piece of a zip tie and used it as a shim. I hope this helps.

will this work with a xbox one as an external hard drive?

Not at all. Considering the type of drive used (2.5mm hdd) and the power requirements for them (12v unless otherwise stated) the xbox spins it up, formats it and even installs games and saves to this drive. Upon launching you are met with the same error, every single game. I'm lead to believe the 9v (usb3 power) is not enough for the drive to fully power without a y cable.
