About Porsche 911 (1964)
In September 1963, Porsche presented the successor to the Porsche 356, the Porsche 901, to the public at the IAA International Motor Show in Frankfurt. In 1964, series production began on the model whose designation was shortly afterward changed to 911. The legend was born.
Initially only available as a coupe, the 911 had a self-supporting body and was powered by a new 2.0-litre six-cylinder boxer engine capable of delivering 130 hp.
