A little dissapointed.
Pros: Acer dependability - I hope. Good features for the price. 3 GB Ram, 160 GB Stata HDD - all good stuff. Had incredible luck with over a dozen Acer notebooks in the last 4 years. Only two had to "go back" for warranty repairs.
Cons: Looks like Acer is "cheaping out" in the down economy. This Extensa only has 3 USB ports; the other Extensas (5620's) I've set up had 4. No Firewire port on this one, and a 2 button Alps touch pad instead of the 3 button Synaptics on the other Extensas. Case doesn't feel as rugged as the previous Extensas, either.
Overall Review: As with the 5620 Extensas, this one will be converted to XP Pro and will have Vi$ta deleted. XP drivers for this one had to be found on the European support site. The 5630 doesn't show up on the U.S. support site. Don't know if the "Egg" is importing grey market, but kind of looks that way.
No. Just No.
Pros: Looks well made.
Cons: Coolant lines might be a tad short.
Overall Review: Bought this because Newegg said it was compatible with the case purchased. Nope. Had to return it because there was no way to use it in the case. Newegg added injury to insult by deducting a 36% restocking fee. No more Egg for me. Done.
Never again
Pros: Looks good
Cons: doesn't work
Overall Review: Unstable system with this pair. Flunked "Mem test" so I got online and obtainerd a trouble ticket ID. Drove my blind father out west for the winter and my ticket was closed, presumably because I was more than 4 days responding. Now I can't get a response. No one answered the 800 number or the local number, (several tries - during local business hours), website only says ticket is closed, and I can't find a way to re-open it. Looks like I will avoid ANY OCZ products in the future. Not sure I ever want to deal with a company that advises it may take several days to respond to your inquiry, but closed your ticket if you don't respond almost overnight. So long OCZ.
