Major upgrade over Ryzen 1400
Pros: Passmark CPU went from 8,000 to almost 20,000 (1400 to 5500 Ryzen) Getting about 15-20% more out of my GPU (typically +20fps on most games) Stock cooler better than i expected in terms of size and quality CPU upgrade will extend my current PC for another 2 years before going AM5 $99 wow
Cons: runs a bit hotter than i thought at stock speeds (Min - 35C, Mid - 55C, full load 72C max) Added two 120mm case fans to my PC but it only dropped the Min and Mid temps not max
Overall Review: Before upgrading to AM5 consider upgrading the CPU and perhaps SSD drive before the expensive upgrade to the next platform unless you really really need it. AM4 has a lot of life left IMHO. CPU's have come along way since my first one 386/20mhz :)
Don't do it
Pros: Very high quality keyboard if it worked. Keystrokes are just right and the palm rest is very nice and cushy. Mouse is nice too but doesn't work at all.
Cons: It doesn't work. I wasted hours trying to get the wireless dongle to work. They keyboard works 50% of the time and the mouse works notta. Ended up buying a cheap logitech combo set that works great.
Overall Review: Don't chance getting a working combo. To RMA this thing back isn't worth the return shipping costs. I have ordered from newegg.com 50 times over the last 8 years and never have been disappointed until now. They shouldn't sell this thing it only frustrates this customer and others that purchased this garbage. Don't chance it. I like refurb stuff but this is the exception for sure.
Works great
Pros: Works at 1600 and latency specs at 1.5v stable
Cons: Won't go to 1666 at 1.5v and do no intend to raising voltage but could work.
Overall Review: In the past, I've purchased all the named brand ram and paid a premium for it. So, I was reluctant to get this ram as I did not know the brand. However, I am very happy with it and it works just as good as the 'big guys' like Micron, Crucial, G.Skill, Munshkin, etc.
Overclocking?
Pros: - Mouse Bios - Good layout - Lots of USB and fan connections
Cons: - Software there's like 8 utilities with poor user interface. How about 1 good GUI that works with the software - Overclocking a locked CPU (FSB only goes 250hz stable) See no other settings to raise the CPU speed so i'm stuck.
Overall Review: Dear Asrock, how can i overclock my 1045t more than raising the FSB to 250? I see no other settings or multipliers to overclock this chip more. It'll go to 3.8ghz on a friends Asus board but it has more overclock settings than this board...that I can find anyway.
Pretty until you get close up
Pros: - Black inside and out - Great venting - Price after rebate - Front panel is removable and is sound insulated - Front USB and Audio jacks - Power supply at the bottom instead of top is neat - no sharp edges - 120mm fan in the back is very quiet
Cons: - the metal is super thin very flimsy esp. compared to my $100 Antec - the feet suck. attach via plastic piece instead of a metal screw - the quick release for the drives is a nice touch but there isn't a quick release for every drive and they don't hold the drive secure so why bother? I had to use screws as i didn't trust the quick release - my power supply didn't fit well at all. i had to shoe horn the dang thing in. I suspect the tolerances are poor such a cheap case
Overall Review: If this wasn't a great deal after rebate, I would be disappointed but I do feel like I got what I paid for it. If doing it over again, I might have just got the Antec 300 series and be done with it. I have an Antec full size tower I bought 6-8 years ago and it is like a BMW and makes this look like a KIA by comparison. If you are doing a medium to expensive build, I would look elsewhere. If you are building a cheap system for yourself or a friend who doesn't care about quality but wants something cheap that looks pretty from a distance, this could be a good choice if you are not willing to spend $30 more.
Pros: Price Gigabyte board sees this as 7-7-7-20 1.8v but....
Cons: 1333 default Unable to go over 1600 with relaxed settings
Overall Review: Unstable at 1666 it seems to work best at 1600 with 8-8-8-18. I think Oz is more liberal with their speed ratings than Corsair, Crucial, etc. No way I can go to 1800. However, I am happy with the ram. For the price, its an excellent buy even at 1600. I just wished it would run at the advertised rate thats all. Oz who decides your published speeds? Marketing Dept or the Engineers? :)
