Top Notch!

CORSAIR RMi Series RM850i 850W 80 PLUS GOLD Haswell Ready Full Modular ATX12V & EPS12V SLI and Crossfire Ready Power Supply with C-Link Monitoring and Control
CORSAIR RMi Series RM850i 850W 80 PLUS GOLD Haswell Ready Full Modular ATX12V & EPS12V SLI and Crossfire Ready Power Supply with C-Link Monitoring and Control

Pros: First, this product performs as advertised!!! No disappointments at all. An excellent manual comes in the box. Digital link Dashboard software- You must download this from Corsair, It does it's job very well. Its GUI lets you see at a glance your temp and power info for your PSU. It also lets you monitor other fan speeds and temps in your machine, plus your CPU activity. This is where you can select between single-rail or multi-rail mode. It also installs an icon in your task bar. Clicking on this icon pops up a menu that gives you instant access to this info. It also lets you choose between “Quiet Mode”, ”Balanced Mode” or “Performance Mode” Digital link also gives you control over other available Corsair products. i.e. case fans, liquid cooling systems and case lighting. A 7 year warranty, not 5 years like other PSUs in this class. This alone is worth a few extra bucks!! 80 PLUS Gold certified for min 90% efficiency. It usually operates closer to 91%. It also has excellent stability under a load with voltages barely fluctuating, if at all. Very quiet! The fan does not come on until it is needed, There is a fan test button to allow you to make sure the fan functions. I tested the fan before it was installed and had to put my ear on the power supply to be able to hear it. It is so quiet that any other fan in the system will keep you from hearing it at all. Cables This is a fully modular system, meaning that even the main mother board power cable is modular. This may not be the case in other modular systems. This makes installation very easy and allows you to route cables so as to minimize air flow disruption. The cables are long which gives you flexibility where they are routed. A very nice case to store unused cables is a nice touch. This PSU weighs only 4.37 lbs. It replaces a Corsair 650w that weighed over 7lbs. This certainly helps in installation and if mounted high, makes your case a little less top heavy. The overall appearance of the RM850i is one of a high quality product. It has very smooth edges and comes in a cloth bag to protect the finish. Everything about this product is high class and would be an asset to any system.

Cons: Two minor issues that could be improved. If you are not familiar with Corsairs link products, then you will wonder what that strange cable connects to. It is to connect to other corsair products. A better explanation of this cable use would be appreciated. Also, The fan test button is on the same side as the cable connections. So it is inaccessible when the computer case is closed. Also, depending on where the PSU is mounted, the button may be blocked by the cables. While this is not a major issue, because you can monitor the fan speed with the dashboard. The fan test button would be better located next to the power switch. One other thing. The software is windows only, A Linux version would be nice.

Overall Review: If you are still reading this, then you are either thinking about building a high end machine, in the process of building or looking to upgrade. In either case, you probably didn't settle for any old motherboard, processor or video card. You bought the best that you could afford. So don't skimp on the power supply. This may be a bit of overkill for you, but, then again, it leaves room for expansion. It is a bad feeling to build a computer and find out that your power supply won't handle the load. You won't be sorry that you bought this one! Your other components will probably be obsolete before the warranty runs out on this power supply. This is definitely a full size ATX power supply. It is physically large. The measurements are 5.9” x 3.9” x 7.1” it fit perfectly in my full size case, there was no room to spare length wise. The cables are also long enough for any ATX motherboard. Installing in a smaller case my cause some issues with cable placement.

Most Critical Review

Nice cooler, but do your research before you but.

DEEPCOOL Gamer Storm CAPTAIN 240 CPU Liquid Cooler AIO Water Cooling Ceramic Bearing Pump Visual Liquid Flow with Dual 120mm FDB PWM Fan Rubber Coating Deep Silent Support LGA 2011-v3
DEEPCOOL Gamer Storm CAPTAIN 240 CPU Liquid Cooler AIO Water Cooling Ceramic Bearing Pump Visual Liquid Flow with Dual 120mm FDB PWM Fan Rubber Coating Deep Silent Support LGA 2011-v3

Pros: *The fit and finish on this cooler is top notch, all connections and seals were tight, no leaks. The black finish is attractive, but unobtrusive, keeping everything in your machine looking neat. * This works with a wide variety of the latest AMD and Intel processors. You will most likely be able to use it when you upgrade your system. *The install instruction are pictorial diagrams that showed how everything fits together. The instructions were very clear. *This cooler cools your processor very well. In my case, however, it took some modifications to the installation for it to work . * The two 120 mm fans move a lot of air and are petty quiet. Even at full speed, they aren't noticeably louder than the case fans.

Cons: * It did not fit my case, when installed according to instructions, even though the case is designed for a water cooling system with a larger radiator. When attempting to install it as directed, the fans interfered with my ram. The fans are 25 mm thick. a 20 mm fan would probably solve that problem. I had to install the radiator inside the case and the fans on top, outside the case, with the airflow from the outside in, to get adequate cooling. The case top cover had to be removed and it will not fit back on the case over the fans, So now I have an ugly case. *The cooling block/pump mounting screws must be installed from the bottom of the motherboard which meant that I had to remove the motherboard. Not really a con, since it is the better way to mount it. Still, it is something to be aware of. *The power hub did not provide sufficient power to the fans to cool the radiator. Using the power hub to power the fans, the processor temperature jumped quickly. The temp was 65 C. with the processor running at only 50%. The fans had to be connected directly to the power supply to get sufficient power to run high enough RPM. This of course means that the fans are at full power and you would need a fan speed controller to moderate the speed when full cooling is not needed.

Overall Review: *The cooler was tested on an AMD 8-core 8350 processor. It was previously air cooled with a top rated cooler with two 140mm fans. *CPU burn-in was used to stress the system. HWMonitor was used to read temps. *Ambient room temp is 85 F 29.5 C *Air cooled and stressed for 1 hr on 8 cores Max temp was 61 degrees C. *Water cooled with the Captain 240, Stressing 8 cores for 1 hr the max temp was 60 degrees C. *Even though it was not a great improvement over the Air cooler. 60 C vs 61 C, both are in the same price range. It is a matter of preference. An air cooler that performs on par with the Captain 240 will be very large and fill up your case. Just something to consider. *Since I now know what to expect. I would consider this system for a new build and would recommend it to others with reservation. It is a very nice cooler . A recommended case list and a FAQ sheet would be nice to see. Thinner fans would make it much easier to install.

A lot of bang for the buck

ASUS - Gaming Laptop - 17.3" 120 Hz IPS-type - AMD Ryzen 7 3750H (up to 4.0 GHz) - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti - 16 GB DDR4 RAM - 512 GB SSD - Gigabit Wi-Fi 5 - Windows 10 Home - TUF (TUF705DU-KH74)
ASUS - Gaming Laptop - 17.3" 120 Hz IPS-type - AMD Ryzen 7 3750H (up to 4.0 GHz) - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti - 16 GB DDR4 RAM - 512 GB SSD - Gigabit Wi-Fi 5 - Windows 10 Home - TUF (TUF705DU-KH74)

Pros: * Nice 120Mhz IPS monitor can be seen from a wide angle. It is sharp with vivid color. * This computer appears to be well built and sturdy . * Windows 10 is installed on a Micron 512Gb M.2 card for fast boots and fast read/writes. * Empty bay for a 2.5 " drive * A competitive gaming machine right out of the box.

Cons: *no ssd slot * All 3 USB slots are on the left side. To use a mouse or any usb controller. the cable must wrap around the back, if you are right handed. * The touch/click pad is smooth to the touch. It works well as long as your fingers are clean. if your finger is oily or damp it might not react. A bit more texture would be appreciated.

Overall Review: For everyday use, the Radeon RX Vega 10 is automatically used. Connecting to my gaming monitor with HDMI automatically used the NVIDIA graphics. the NVIDIA driver software will let you choose: auto-select, Radeon or NVIDIA graphics. if there is any doubt. Armoury Crate software, already installed, allows you to change most anything that you would want to change. I ran several benchmarks, all with good scores. The real tests though is how does it perform in actual games. Running Call of Duty Modern Warfare on high textures, high lighting and high resolution, everything ran very smoothly with no lag. PUBG Also ran great on high settings While you won't compete with the guys that live to game and have spent their life saving on a gaming system, you will, have a lot of fun, be competitive, and keep some cash in your pocket. If you're looking for a competitive gaming machine for a good price. I definitely can recommend giving this one serious consideration. I certainly would.

Good stuff!!

Crucial Ballistix 3200 MHz DDR4 DRAM Desktop Gaming Memory Kit 16GB (8GBx2) CL16 BL2K8G32C16U4B (BLACK)
Crucial Ballistix 3200 MHz DDR4 DRAM Desktop Gaming Memory Kit 16GB (8GBx2) CL16 BL2K8G32C16U4B (BLACK)

Pros: The simple black, no bells, whistles and no lights, works for me. This RAM looks nice, clean and neat in any build The heat sink works well, since every thing stayed cool. The size kept installation simple.

Cons: There are no cons from my point of view..

Overall Review: My test machine is a ASUS ROG Strix x470F motherboard running a Ryzen 7 2700x OC to 4.15 ghz . Initial boot after installing the Crucial Ballistic sticks showed the speed to be 2666 mhz. Setting it in the bios to the proper 3200mhz put everything in order. Timing showed 16, 18, 18, 36 as it should. Userbenchmark mark rated this at 111% with the average being 94% or 78 percentile of Ram in their database. Passmark results were 2850 . 68 percentile. Performance was better than expected in both cases. It was used heavily for 3 days with no problems at all. This is very good memory for the price I can recommend this memory with no reservations and will probably buy another 16 GB to use in a Photo editing setup.

It's a Keeper!

Corsair Force MP510 M.2 2280 240GB PCI-Express 3.0 x4, NVMe 1.3 3D TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CSSD-F240GBMP510
Corsair Force MP510 M.2 2280 240GB PCI-Express 3.0 x4, NVMe 1.3 3D TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CSSD-F240GBMP510

Pros: * It’s fast. Crystaldisk results were 3084.9 MBps Seq read and 1033.5 MBps Seq write. Very close to what is in the Newegg specs for this ssd. *The price is very reasonable for what you get. *Attractive and unobtrusive. The Black finish looks nice and no doubt helps with heat dissipation. Thankfully there is none of the usual Corsair bling! *Cool running. Max temp was 31 degrees C when testing. Idle temp was 19 C normal use was 25 C . *Five year warranty. Endurance is 400 TBW. To put that is perspective, you would need to write 219 GB every day for 5 years.

Cons: This SSD is nicely packaged, but, no documentation comes in the box, no software and nothing to tell you where to find any supporting software. You can find Corsair SSD Toolbox on one of the popular download sites. It is difficult to find on the Corsair site. Toolbox does allow you to monitor your SSD health and there is a link to update firmware, It is however several years old and is not up to the standards we have come to expect from Corsair. Hopefully, some improvements are in the works.

Overall Review: This is a great drive for a new build. It does require a compatible mother board, so choose carefully. I did not attempt clone a drive to this ssd. I did a clean install of Windows 10 from a USB 3.1 thumb drive . Everything went very smoothly, and fast. No problems at all. Booting from this drive is very noticeably faster in comparison than any other type of drive I have ever used. I can recommend this drive with no reservations.

I am really enjoying this headset

Corsair HS70 SE Wireless Gaming Headset with 7.1 Surround Sound
Corsair HS70 SE Wireless Gaming Headset with 7.1 Surround Sound

Pros: * Solidly built without being too heavy. I am pleased with the build quality of this headset. * Excellent sound quality for this price range. They were very clear when both gaming and listening to music. Corsairs ICUE software has an equalizer that allows you to manually adjust the sound to your liking or you can use any of several presets. The 7.1 surround sound works great. It is impressive with stereo music. * Good range. Take a break, walk into another room and still hear what is going on very clearly. I would estimate that I was at least 30 feet from my computer. If you get out of range, the sound just stops. No static or fading out. Of course more interference , walls etc. will shorten that distance. * Comfortable fit. The ear cups were big enough to fit over my ears. So there was none of the pressure on the ears that I have experienced with other headphones. They stay firmly in place. Some say that are uncomfortable on larger heads. I were a 7 ¼ cap and they are comfortable for me. * Battery life- I really can’t say how long the battery charge will last. Battery power never got low enough to cause a problem after many hours of use. They were plugged in to charge over night, never was an issue with batteries. The ICUE software has a battery indicator to check how much charge you have. If your battery does get low and needs charging, you can use the headset while plugged into the USB charging cable. * Microphone - The detachable mic’ is a nice feature when you just want to listen. When gaming. It is very clear and concise. Yes, they really do reduce ambient noise.

Cons: The vinyl ear cups do not appear to be replaceable.

Overall Review: I let other family members try this headset . They were very impressed also and liked them better than what they were using. They have a well known, popular brand in the same price range . I definitely recommend this headset. Great bang for the Buck!! You can buy better, but, you will have a hard time beating these in this price range.
