My dvd drive in my computer does not work.  Would this product replace it?

"Corel WinDVD Pro 11 - Product Key Card" is a software license for the program, Corel WinDVD Pro 11.

If your DVD drive does not work, either the drive must be replaced or your computer is not recognizing it properly.

Think of the key card as kind of like a auto registration for your car. The DVD drive is more like a tire for the car.
Would getting your car's registration renewed fix a flat tire?

No. It must be repaired or replaced.

I suggest you have your DVD drive looked at. Maybe you could upgrade to a Blue-Ray burner (drive that reads and writes Blue-Ray, DVD and CD media)!

Question 2

Hey, I bought the card and when I got it I tried registering it on my Corel account but it says the code isn't valid. Anyone else have that problem?

I went to the corel website and could only find info on how to register winded 9.  It said to register I had to enter the serial number, from the about pull-down menu.  There is no serial number so I cannot register it.  It then says if you have trouble registering call technical support.  Technical support is only available after you register.

In the about section it says it is registered to my computer user name.  What can that mean when I never entered the unlock code from the card???  Is it only registered for the 30 day trial?  Can anyone register it just by installing the 30-day trial version?

So what is going on?

By the way I tried both the link on the card I got in the mail from newegg and the alternate posted here.  both take you to the 30 day trial.

I cannot get this to run on Win8.1. Is there anything I can do?

I wrote customer support.  They told me that I would be refered to a level 2 support person.  That person checked the card number/serial number.  They had to unlock it over the telephone.  It was the biggest hassle I ever had with buying a piece of software.  It's worth it,  just a hassle.  So get on the phone and call customer service and tell them what's going on.  I know they must answer this all of the time.

Has anyone been successful activating product and if so how??

Yes, I received a purchase serial code (four 7-digit codes) as well as an activation code (four 4-digit codes). Make sure you are using the correct code. I can't remember specifically about this product, but some products require you to leave out the hyphens when entering the code. You might try that as well.

Can this program make dvd copies?

I'm pretty sure it cannot, though I don't (nor would I) use it for that purpose.  Personally, I use a combination of AnyDVD HD with applications like WinX DVD Ripper Platinum, DVD Shrink, DVD Fab, etc.  AnyDVD removes any copy protection, and the other applications I mentioned all specialize in copying DVDs (each has certain situations where they are more useful).  I find WinX the most userful for extracting and transcoding a DVD to a digital format (i.e. from DVD to a file on your computer or mobile device).  I find DVD Shrink & DVD  Fab to be the most useful for DVD to DVD copies.

Will this work with an external dvd or blue ray player and windows 8.1?

This software works will all versions of Windows.  I've installed this to XP, Vista, 7, and 8.1.

As Windows sees an external drive as it would any other drive, the software works the same.  Use it to watch DVDs or Blu-Ray discs from USB or SATA optical drives.

I really am dumb on tech things...but, don't laugh but can this be used when playing games ?  Am I on the wrong track?  Thanks.

I really don't know.I bought it to play blue ray movies which didn't work and their support is terrible I wouldn't buy any thing from Corel. Thanks to Newegg I was able to get my money back.

Has anyone tried this on the current demonstration builds of Win 10? Any issues?

No Neil haven't tried. but thought it might be helpful to share that this works for blu-rays but i've run into a lot that wont play well too. Had failures on a lot of redbox rentals and some independent films on blu-ray.  im looking forward to trying a cyberlink powerDVD product because i suspect i wont have same disappointments. got this for free or next to it so i cant complain just thought the input might help you!

What do mean by "enabled"? Are you asking does it play disc with Cinivia? In that case, yes it does. I played The Equalizer Blue Ray all the way through without any interruptions.

Does this product become the default carrier, replacing Google or does it provide additional features?

not sure I understand your question?? this is windows software to play DVD and blue ray movies, you can decide as part of the install what extensions like .mov or .avi this becomes the default player for. works good, although I couldn't seem to fuiger out how to use the new egg registration code,..but the vertion I downloaded seemed to work....oh and also you will need to download the least service PAC for this software or it won't play blue ray disks
