Great budget case, but not without its flaws.

DIYPC DIY-BG01 Black USB 3.0 ATX Mid Tower Gaming Computer Case with Pre-installed 3 x 120mm Fans
DIYPC DIY-BG01 Black USB 3.0 ATX Mid Tower Gaming Computer Case with Pre-installed 3 x 120mm Fans

Pros: I picked this case up on sale for about $40, and I'll say for a $40-50 mid tower case this one is great for a budget build. If you're just looking for something cheap, or something that'll be good as a home theater PC case with a minimal look, this case will look great. Pros: - Clean black interior. - Blue LEDs in the front, plus a blue LED 120mm fan in the rear to provide some subtle lighting. - Almost excessive cable management space behind the motherboard tray, which makes up for it being on the smaller side of the mid tower class. - Includes three 120mm fans if you're looking to save cash for that super budget build. - Dedicated 'basement' to provide more hiding space for ugly cable routing. - Tool-less HDD cage is located in the basement, freeing up space up top for better airflow, or a pump/reservoir combo. - Dedicated space for a radiator up front, up to 360mm long, in case you're including an AIO cooler or custom water cooling loop. You don't have to remove the HDD cage to make room for a radiator, either, unlike some cases. - Three dedicated 2.5 inch drive mounts.

Cons: However, being a budget case does mean this case does come with a few flaw. Cons: - PCI expansion slots are snap-off: once removed they can't be put back on. You'll have to purchase replacement expansion slot covers if you need to cover them back up. - Included fans are definitely on the budget side. Not overly noisy, but they can definitely be replaced with some higher quality fans without breaking the $30 mark. - The drive cage can mount four 2.5 or 3.5 drives (I think, maybe three?), but they only include two sleds to mount drives. - The budget price definitely shows: my case arrived with one USB 2.0 port slightly pushed into its hole in the front panel. Said front panel also had two of the snap mounts for locking to the chassis broken off. It still goes on securely, but makes it come off more easily.

Overall Review: Other thoughts: - It isn't really a con, but the front panel lighting is only four blue LEDs illuminating plastic strips along the front. Not worth knocking an egg off, but just something people should know: they aren't LED strips, just four individual LEDs. - The placement of the HDD cage doesn't leave very much room if you're using a larger power supply. I used a Corsair CX750M, and had about three inches between the rear of the PSU and the drive cage. Enough to not over-kink the cables, but still snug. - Your power supply will need to have a Molex cable if you want to use the front panel LEDs, or you'll have to at least find a SATA to Molex adapter. The fans are 3-pin fan header or Molex. - There are no 5.25 drive bays, so you'll want to keep that in mind in case you need access to CDs or DVDs. Overall, it isn't a bad case for $40-50. If you aren't worried about potential QC issues, this will be a good, cheap case. I'm impressed that for such a low price (when on sale) this case provides enough room to actually include a full custom watercooling loop, if you needed it!

Decent battery, short lifespan

Pros: I ordered this battery in the early spring of this year to replace the dead battery of a laptop I bought from a friend after he'd bought and fixed it up. Inexpensive, arrived quickly, and held a decent charge for an hour or two depending on what I was running.

Cons: About a month ago I noticed that the battery stopped charging when plugged in, remaining at 82% charge and then gradually dropping to 8% with an included "Your battery needs charging" warning. As of Christmas Eve when I powered it on tonight, it gave me the warning to replace my battery because there is a problem.

Overall Review: I know it is not by any means a best of the best replacement battery, just be aware you may only get about 6-8 months of life tops. For the time it worked well I had no problems with it. I will be contacting the sellers about the 1-year warranty to get a replacement battery shipped.

Excellent appearance, terrible Quality Control

Phanteks PH-C350A_CR01 CPU Water Block for AMD Socket AM4/AM3(+)/AM2(+)/FM1/FM2, Nickel-plated Copper Base, Aluminum Cover, Acrylic Cover, RGB LED Lighting
Phanteks PH-C350A_CR01 CPU Water Block for AMD Socket AM4/AM3(+)/AM2(+)/FM1/FM2, Nickel-plated Copper Base, Aluminum Cover, Acrylic Cover, RGB LED Lighting

Pros: First off, I want to say that this block looks absolutely amazing. One of the main reasons I bought this was for its high reviews on the Intel variant, along with some very satisfying aesthetic properties.

Cons: Sadly I can't say anything about whether it performed well or looks good in the build, because as I was installing the standoffs onto the backplate, one of them snapped off at the base of the threads. Upon further inspection, it looks like the section that screws into the backplate was completely cracked all the way through, so when I went to screw it in, as it caught on a snag the minor pressure from me screwing ended up just snapping it like a piece of plastic. I have no way of removing the broken section, so this means I can't use the CPU block, AND I now no longer have an AMD AM4 backplate to use with my motherboard if I have need of one. I think I'll be requesting an RMA, and sticking with EK for CPU and GPU blocks from now on.

A decent, low-budget case

Corsair Carbide Series 100R CC-9011075-WW Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Corsair Carbide Series 100R CC-9011075-WW Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Pros: I purchased this case to house a build that will replace my aging Dell XPS 7100. It is a well designed case for a low price. A large viewing window allows you to show off the build you just finished putting together. The interior itself is very spacious and well laid out, giving plenty of room to fit larger graphics cards or liquid cooling systems. It also comes with 5 places to mount 120mm fans, allowing you to control the airflow so that you get the best cooling possible. The easy-access rack for hard drives is a neat feature, and doesn't require screws to mount 3.5" drives, though you will need to use the included screws if you want to mount a solid-state drive on one of the pull-out trays. The drives are located in a nice spot, right behind one of the front intake fan mounts, so you can make sure all of your drives are kept cool under high load. When I first unpacked the case, I noticed that it is incredibly light, possibly half the weight of the XPS case if it were empty. the whole frame is also painted black, to give it a clean, finished look. It also has routing slots to let you run cables behind the frame, something I really liked about Corsair's cases. It allows for a cleaner looking interior, which also results in better air flow and cooling.

Cons: The first thing I noticed about the case was that it has a rather flimsy feel about it, specifically in that it is easy to 'flex', most likely due to the light material the case is made out of. For me this isn't a concern, as it will be stationary on my desk without any planned movement. However, those looking to purchase it for use on a tower that will be moved about often may want to keep that in mind. On the same vein, the trays used to mount hard drives are made of cheap plastic, designed to bend to snap into place on 3.5" drives. My issue with this is that heat could cause the plastic to warp and soften, resulting in deformation from vibrations. My biggest concern is that the trays won't provide a very solid support for my hard drives. The feet included with the case are hard plastic, not rubber like you would expect. I will most likely look into covering them with rubber feet to ensure the case won't slide on my desk. The fan mount on the rear of the case, as well as the two on top, have rather large screw holes (about 3/8"), while the two mounts up front have smaller screw holes (about 1/4"). I'm hoping that the fan I ordered will include screws that will fit the smaller holes on the front mounts.

Overall Review: Despite its flaws, I feel that this case is an overall good purchase for someone looking to build a good computer for a low price. While some parts may feel rather cheaply made, with proper care they should last for several years. If I had known more about what this case had to offer, I might have looked into other options, however I am not dissatisfied with my purchase. If you just need something inexpensive that will get the job done well, this may be the case you're looking for.

High airflow, Low noise

Considering the obvious, these are PC case fans. They move air through the case as they're supposed to. However, they do an excellent job of it, and nearly silently. Pros: Clean, black appearance. Near-silent operation, as advertised. Even at a constant 90% I'm unable to differentiate them from my radiator fans. Excellent volume of airflow. Just two of these as intakes produces a large amount of positive air pressure. Cons: None, really. I only wish I'd gone with a full-sized tower so I could have three 140mm fans as intakes instead of two. Closing thoughts: About the only thing I'd really consider a possible suggestion, would be to include rubber pads on the mounting points, which would provide further sound dampening. Overall, I highly recommend these fans if you are a PC builder who wants to minimize fan noise without sacrificing performance or quality.

Excellent custom water loop CPU cooling

This is definitely a recommended purchase if you are looking for a custom water cooling loop, but don't know where to start with shopping for the parts. The instructions are very straight-forward, all of the required parts are included as well, you only need to supply distilled water yourself. One thing to note: If you are installing this in a case with a lot of tight spaces, you may want to consider purchasing a few extra parts from EK, such as 90-degree elbows, as well as a splitter and some sort of ball valve fitting for easier draining. Check out Jayztwocents on Youtube, he has phenomenal water cooling videos to follow.
