Excellent power supply for a gaming build
Pros: This is an excellent power supply for those of you who want to build a power hungry gaming computer and expect it to last for many years and use the least amount of energy. The components used are excellent. With a gaming computer you need to save on the energy bill as much as possible. Trust me on this as I was in a gaming clan for many years. I still get shocked knowing what I used to pay when I was playing as a clan member religiously 6-10 hrs a day. I have had to replace many power supplys in the past and paying a high premium price when I have had to get a fast fix at a local shop is very annoying when you have to select a sub-standard power supply because most places do not carry anything efficient in power like this or higher in wattage than 500. The power supply I used before this one can’t even compare and I got it from a very large retailer here in my town and it was honestly the best power supply they had which was just 4 dollars cheaper than this power supply. Warranty - 7 year warranty is absolutely amazing. This is raising the bar and shows the commitment of Rosewill. I still have a gaming computer I built in January of 2007 and it still rocks and plays everything out today so you want this type of warranty on a gaming power supply. I also have an Alienware M18X with Intel i7 2820 cpu, 2 X 6990 AMD “ATI” graphics cards and 2 solid state drives running in Raid-0 in it, so trust me, I know most everything you can imagine about the best gaming performance. I have replaced a Seasonic M12 power supply that I paid over 200.00 for when I built this gaming computer because it died after warranty expired. It was hard to swallow that loss! I recently replaced a Corsair GS800 gaming power supply (it is actually still working fine) because the efficiency is too amazing to pass up on this one. The warranty is truly outstanding on this power supply! Cables - Excellent length on the cables (see the video I attached) and 8 sata connectors will let you hook up just about any kind of configuration. I recommend a solid state raid-0 configuration on any gaming computer and there are tons of connectors to make this easy and still have ports for tons of devices. Here is good advice on modular. I am somewhat a fan but I will be truly honest with you. Even using modular, I was using every cable but 2 with my gaming computer. We spend good money to pay for modular when we are the type of people that hook up tons of components when selecting a power supply with this type of wattage. That is my honest opinion and with the Seasonic M12 the modular cabling still had to be tucked away throughout the case even though it was a modular power supply. Modular would be great for a HTPC or minimal component build. Power – Continuous 750W @50C – 80 PLUS PLATINUM which easily powers a SLI or Crossfire configuration (4 X 6+2 pin connectors). A single 12V rail which is ideal for power hungry gaming machines. A large 135mm fan that has au
Cons: No modular cables / no fancy lighting.
Overall Review: This is an excellent power supply for a high power build. The price is amazing when you consider all Japan capacitors and a 7 year warranty!
Great sound but has a few issues
Pros: The sound quality is great and I played several games with these and pretty impressed by the quality. Great surround and these are fine for casual gaming. The cord is rather short though if you are plugging this into the back of a tower and would recommend these only if your tower sits on your desk in front of you. These are going to be a pain if your tower is under a desk and you have to plug this into the rear USB ports.
Cons: The headset is huge. I am a 42 yr old male and this headset is just too big. If I tilt my head down this headset pretty much just slides off my head. Unless I'm looking straight ahead I cannot use this headset and its very annoying. I also have the Logitech G930 and they fit much better and tighter. Playing games on my phone while using this headset has not been fun at all because they slide and eventually fall off. The volume knob is easy to turn when you are taking these off and could be in a better location.
Overall Review: This headset is good if you have a huge noggin but other than that I would look for something else and spend extra money to get wireless headset. These will fill in when my G930s are charging but they won't replace them by any means at all. These should also be called XL headsets because they are way too big. I cannot even imaging anyone opening these up to use the largest fitting.
Keeps my i9 13900K cool
Pros: Great fit for Corsair 7000x RGB case. Keeps i9 13900K temps down just like the reviews say. LCD looks great and easily customizable to personal preference. LCD upgrade works with this should you damage yours like I did.
Cons: none
Overall Review: This was a great added touch to my 7000X build. Many people had issues with their LCD not working and mentioned the triangle of death with ! but I seated the original OEM in the fan hub and also the upgrade unit with no issues. Using old sata cables from my previous PSU fried 2 fan hubs, 3 RGB fans and my original LCD unit. After replacing the fan hubs, the LCD only showed the light ring around the LCD so I purchased and installed a new upgrade LCD unit and it worked perfect. i9 13900K Asus Maximus Exteme Z790 G.Skill 7600 DDR5 2 WD SN850x 1T Gigabyte 4090 OC Thermaltake GF3 1650W Corsair 7000x RGB Corsair H170i Elite LCD
Extremely fast but cannot get advertised speeds
Pros: Very fast drives with great software that is downloadable. Game mode
Cons: Cannot get advertised speeds out of the box.
Overall Review: I was looking for some of the fastest NVME drives I could purchase and got a great deal on 2 of these 1T drives. From the moment I press power, I am already in game in about 45 seconds. These drives are crazy fast. I have not been able to get advertised speeds since I bought these. I probably could do some settings somewhere to increase more but instead of the 7300/6300, I get around 6900/5600 range. I know I would not notice the increase anyway but I reviewed a Corsair MP600 GS today and got speeds above the rated speed right out of the box. These are great though and until more PCIe 5 drives come out, I'm very happy with the performance and speed I'm at. i9 13900K Asus Maximus Exteme Z790 G.Skill 7600 DDR5 2 WD 850x 1T Gigabyte 4090 OC Thermaltake GF3 1650W Corsair 7000x RGB Corsair H170i Elite LCD
Works great with Asus Maximus Extreme Z790 and Gigabyte 4090OC
Pros: Every cable you will ever need comes with this beast. 2X 600W 16 pin connectors for whatever reason you'd need more than 1. Very small form factor for the wattage.
Cons: Very stiff cables that I would not want to work with in a tight build. 600W cables have a hard rubber sleeve that extend out making it not ideal for anything other than a GPU vertical mount. Fan spins to max at every shutdown for about 8 seconds which is louder than everything else in my build.
Overall Review: I was strictly searching for a PSU that was in stock at the time for a 4090. This was my only option. Would I have gotten this one? Probably not but after having it for 3 months, it is growing on my and I have nothing really bad to say about it. It has worked since day 1 even if I fried some components that first day which was definitely my fault. I have no doubt I didn't need anything near 1650W but with a 10 yr warranty, I guess I don't have to worry about not having enough power in the future. It stays silent with the fans hardly ever running even with heavy gaming 90% of the time. Thank you Thermaltake! i9 13900K Asus Maximus Exteme Z790 G.Skill 7600 DDR5 2 WD 850x 1T Gigabyte 4090 OC Thermaltake GF3 1650W Corsair 7000x RGB Corsair H170i Elite LCD
Replaced my H170i LCD without having to buy another whole unit
Pros: Works with the H170i just like the original OEM part. Easy to install and use iCUE for setting up graphics/GIF. Adds so much more to a PC build with your personal touch.
Cons: none
Overall Review: I did the big mistake of using old sata cables from my Corsair 850M on my new Thermaltake GF 1650W and burned up corsair fan hubs, 3 Corsair LED fans on my 7000x and the LCD on my H170i. That was about a $300.00 mistake but after getting new fan hubs, the LCD still didn't work. The lighting ring around the LCD would work, but not the LCD itself. After I replaced it with this upgrade kit, its working again. I am just glad it didn't fry thousands of dollars of other components. Never make this mistake that many of us have done!
