Good value for gaming
Pros: Good price, good for overclocking, low heat, and decent heatsink/fan. Will be used for playing Project Reality which is based on the older BF2 engine and only utilizes like 1.5 cores.
Cons: Only two cores and no Hyperthreading.
Overall Review: Found it stable at 4.3GHz at 1.3V. I was really hoping hit that magical 50% overclock at 4.8 like a few have, but no dice. I can't complain, though. The stock heatsink holds up fine and temps maxed out at 55°C on a test bench (no airflow) after some Prime95 time. Temps are lower once I got it installed in a case.
Quality stuff
Pros: Nice Z97 chipset and Asus quality at a decent price. Cool BIOS with tons of options. I like the sleak black PCB with gold heatsinks.
Cons: Omits some key features of the -A model like true auto-overclocking and both PCI-E x16 slots running at x8 with two graphics cards.
Overall Review: I had to choose and purchase a motherboard, processor and memory somewhat hastily for a friend. To avoid headaches I chose Asus, to ensure good overclocking with the G3258 processor I chose a Z97, and to keep costs down I chose the -P model. After building the system and trying to overclock, I researched and found out the -A board adds "Dual Intelligent Processors 5" which gives the motherboard the ability to automatically and competently find the highest overclock. It would have saved me a lot of time and probably would have done a better job (too many settings). This -P model does have a different auto-overclock feature, but it didn't get nearly as high as I was able to. Also, the second PCI-E x16 slot maxes out at x2 speed. Not sure how much that will bottleneck any possible dual-graphics configurations.
Good value and fast
Pros: WEI gives it a score of 7.9 which is the highest possible. Works fine at 1866 @ 1.5V.
Cons: Nothing.
Overall Review: Used in Asus Z97-P motherboard. Didn't try overclocking it.
Great affordable player
Pros: The price was outstanding. It has a clean, simple design with only an inoffensive white led shining up indicating it's on. Practically silent and loads Blu-rays decently fast. Video and audio quality are perfect as any halfway-decent Blu-ray player should be. Plenty of streaming apps which work great. USB keyboard can be used to search on YouTube, etc. Logitech Harmony software had no trouble programming all the functions into my Harmony remote.
Cons: YouTube app is clunky to search and navigate with. Historically for me, Sony has a problem with their stuff lasting--they seem to die before other major brands, On top of that, this is a refurbished unit, so I may have shot myself in the foot with this. At this price, though, I'll be happy if it lasts a year.
Overall Review: Price dropped by $5 a few days after I ordered. I emailed Newegg and explained the situation, knowing that they had no obligation to credit me the difference. They stated that fact, but credited me anyway since I'm a long-time customer (11 years).
Awesome
Pros: Efficient and affordable.
Cons: None
Overall Review: I've had this for over a year keep my E3200 cool. Granted, the processor isn't overclocked (bad mobo selection on my part), but I run BOINC all the time and the CPU temp never cracks 50°C with very little airflow through my case. The most amazing part is it never spins past 850RPM! My mobo spins it slow which keeps noise and dust buildup to an absolute minimum. Silent and clean!
