Nice CPU cooler

ASUS Triton 77 92mm Vapo Bearing CPU Cooler
ASUS Triton 77 92mm Vapo Bearing CPU Cooler

Pros: The fan is very quiet. The footprint is small for a good quality cooler - 92mm. According to reviews I have read this cooler does almost as good a job as the best 120mm coolers. The base is small and the heatpipes are not angled too much so it should fit almost any motherboard. The fan/heatsink has a lot of clearance space so even tall northbridge heatsinks should fit under it without problem. 4 pin fan connector that works on 3 pin too! No need to remove the motherboard to install.

Cons: While it gives you lots of clearance, it won't fit in slim cases. I don't think it will fit in a 3U rackmount case. I have mine in a 4U rackmount case, which is about the same size as a standard PC case, and I have about 1 inch of space above the top of the cooler.

Overall Review: Replaced the stock cooler on an AMD X2 6000+. I did a lot of research on CPU coolers. I was primarily interested in quieting the computer not in cooling for overclocking. This does a fine job of cooling and is very quiet under normal load - barely audible. It gets a little louder when the fan speed goes into high speed under AMD's Quiet & Cool, but that happens a LOT less with this cooler than with the stock one. The fan on my graphics card is now the loudest fan in the system. I'm extremely pleased and I'm buying another 2 for my other PC's. It is mounted on ASUS M3A motherboard with plenty of clearance for the huge northbridge heatsink and doesn't come close to the RAM or power supply. I can finally hear the sound from my speakers over the jet engine sound of the stock AMD fan.

No video on projector

GIGABYTE GA-MA69GM-S2H AM2 AMD 690G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-MA69GM-S2H AM2 AMD 690G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: It's a nice board for the money and has a pretty good set of drivers. The construction is sturdy and the documentation is better than most.

Cons: Useless for my home theater. The onboard video didn't work with my Dell 2300MP projector at any resolution or refresh rate. The Promise onboard RAID utility is very basic and lacks many features of other chipsets. It uses the same BIOS as the lowest end Promise SATA RAID 1 cards.

Overall Review: Gigbyte's support has yet to view my support request after 3 full days. This board is going back. I'll get something with a better chipset and separate video card.

Good basic switch

NETGEAR 48-Port Gigabit Ethernet Smart Switch (GS748T)
NETGEAR 48-Port Gigabit Ethernet Smart Switch (GS748T)

Pros: Inexpensive for a 48 port Gigabit switch with SFP ports. I have purchased a few of these units and they have been reliable.

Cons: None for me.

Overall Review: I like the Netgear GS748T and TP smart switches. I use them in small business networks where an unmanaged switch will suffice, but where the smart GUI and VLAN support might come in handy down the road. I've purchased 6 or 7 over the past 5 years and have had no issues with them at all.

Good so far

HGST Deskstar NAS 3.5" 4TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s High-Performance Hard Drive for Desktop NAS Systems Retail Packaging

Pros: No DOA drives so far, 25 for 25 and just purchased another 5.

Cons: None, they are working as expected.

Overall Review: I've got 2 Synology 8 Bay NAS's, a ReadyNas NVX+ and a ReadyNAS Pro, and no problems with any of them recognizing the full capacity of the drives. The ReadyNas Pro has a 16TB limit, so only 5 drives in that chassis.

Love this product

NETGEAR XAVB5001-100NAS Powerline AV 500 Adapter Kit Up to 500Mbps
NETGEAR XAVB5001-100NAS Powerline AV 500 Adapter Kit Up to 500Mbps

Pros: Plug and play. These adapters have totally resolved issues with slow wireless speeds for me in a couple of locations. Much faster than wireless-N, I can stream 720p video with no lag or pixelation at home, and they resolved a slow perfomance issue with an app that didn't tolerate a wireless well.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I tested installing 4 of these (2 kits) at my office and it required no software. I had one hard wired and the rest were power only. I loaded the software for the heck of it and it shows the current speed of the connections, but wasn't necessary. Speed seemed to suffer somewhat as more adapters were connected.
