Is toner cartridge included?

A standard toner cartridge was included with mine -- and toner seems to last a long time in this printer.  But I've since always bought the high capacity cartridges because the cost per page is less.  I have no clue what the current policy is for Newegg and HP, but there probably will be a standard cartridge included.  the people at Neweg should be able to answer for sure.

Can this printer be made to operate wireless?

The LaserJet Pro M401dne does not have a wireless module built in so it cannot connect wirelessly to your network on its own.

However, you can connect the printer to your network with a wired Ethernet connection, and then print to it wirelessly from any computer that is connected to the same network over Wi-Fi.

You CAN also connect the printer to the wireless network with additional equipment, a wireless print server. Newegg sells the StarTech 1 Port USB Wireless N Network Print Server that has good reviews.

Does this printer have a scanner?

No scanner, but it does duplex (print on both sides)

Does the HP LaserJet Pro 400 have the capacity to print on a double sided basis?

Yes.  The 'D' in the M401DNE model number indicates duplex printing, or as you put it, printing on a double sided basis.  It does a great job of it, too!  It's saved me a lot of paper.

Can this printer be used as a copier?

If you have the digital file, this will handle volume with speed and efficiency. It will no replace a photocopy machine without a stand alone scanner.

is the printer wireless ?

It connects to your network using an internet cable.  Once connected to your network (using a wire), you can print wireless from your laptop to the printer by sending an email to an online account (with hp).  You need to create the account (with hp).  I believe you can also connect it directly to a computer using a cable.  I don't know if there is another way to connect it, other than those two.

No. The term "mono" in the description means that it uses one ink color. Black.

No.  Fast duplex laser printing.  Networkable, but no scanning, faxing, or copying.  A one-in-one.

This comes with a starter cartridge of toner.  You can purchase additional toner cartridges either  model 80A or model 80X

Does the M401dne have a portal for printing envelopes?

The manual tray flips down in front and there is a guide that you can set down to the envelope size.  That would allow you to do a number of envelopes in a row if desired.  Probably up to 30-40 I would guess.
