Yes,  my daughter has mac book pro, IPad, asus 2&1 computer .  They all work.  There is a little bit of work setting up.  Follow the instructions it will guide you through.  She loves it

Am I able to transfer movie files wirelessly from my laptop onto this drive? Then, can I stream from this device to my Smart TV to watch movies? Thanks!

No and Yes.
You have to physically transfer files via USB to the hard drive.  Once there, they can be streamed to a Smart TV.

Be aware that it isn't like watching a DVD. It takes a little manipulating to get them to view. Setting up the internet connection is one.
Also, the movie will be displayed as the VOB files so you will have to experiment as which one is the start of the movie.

All in all it does work well.

Question 3

Can this drive be used to access remotely via internet?  For example, could I access documents on this drive via the web without a computer at home networked to it?  Or only local access via wifi?

Intranet only unless jail broken which allows you to join existing wifi networks and share that internet connection, but I have only been able to achieve seeing the web from the device but not the device and subnet from the web at all. I think you are looking for something more like a Tonidoplug.
