My understanding is that WD never intends to be entirely clear on actual RPM of Green family, probably to maintain trade secrets of their power saving approach.

Their "Intellipower" is marketing speak for a secret sauce algorithm that determines RPM for any given level of demand, AND that they reserve the right to alter that algorithm on a per model basis within the Green family, IE 2, 3, 4TB sizes and hardware revisions​ 'EZRX' or whatever it's on now.

Short answer, they operate mostly at 5400rpm, most of the time, dropping as low as 4200rpm or even 0rpm to save on power, acoustics and vibration as they see fit.

Whatever the recipe per drive the performance is excellent for a 5400rpm drive at it's price level, with noticable power savings and quietness over the other families and brands. I've been very happy, repeat buyer here.

Reliability has been good enough too, I'm on my 7th drive with no issues, one of which recovered nicely from a power failure during write a few years back and a 8th recently bought needing RMA fresh out of box for excessive noise and vibration, somewhat ironically lol.

Other then that blemish, it's a great drive at any RPM.
