Are the speakers wireless?

No they're not. The cables are long enough to mount the surround speakers behind you, they all come with wall mounted brackets, and terminal connectors for easy installation. I bought this system,  mostly just for the speakers, but I'm using it for audio from my PC, not home theater audio. If you're interested in the receiver itself, I'll sell you kine for cheap.

I see no instruction to set up the speekers please advise?

When you run the audio setup, there is an automated test that balances the speakers using a provided mic.  Click on the setup button, then scroll to the left to audio, and select the EQ button.

Is there a place to plug in my cd player... RCA stereo connections?

It has CD/DVD/Blueray player built in so not sure why you would want to.  So much easier to use the nice remote that comes with the unit to play CD/CDR/DVD/DVDR/B-ray etc.

It does have the RCA jacks for input using component video (g,b,r) but you must use either the optical or digital coax for sound.  Remember this is a surround sound unit so hooking up an old stereo CD player would kind of defeat the purchase decision imho.

Nice unit for the price...  Love built in Pandora, YouTube and Bluetooth.

Are the speakers wireless?  I am not sure if that what Bluetooth means.  I have a large living room and cannot feed wires every where.  If not, any advice.

The speakers not wireless , u have to wires connect speakers to receive

how does the system connect to internet? wifi/ethernet?
Is this a smart player? comes with apps like youtube, netflix etc?
Does it play DVD'ss too? what all formats?

Really poor description. I couldn't take a decision with it.

The manual says Wi-fi connectivity along with ethernet for this model. However, i could not find how it connects via wi-fi. I could though easily hook up ethernet cable. There is not a lot of help rather than asking Harman support. Just a day into using, so i might find more info soon. It does play DVD and blu-ray but for US region only. You can download the BDS 577 (Receiver manual) from harman kardon website. Cannot paste link because of restrictions but just google BDS 577 manual and the first link is the manual.

will this system will work in germany?

I'm not sure, but I don't see any reason why it would not work in germany with the proper plug adapter.  I wish I could give a better answer, but I figured something might be more useful than no answer at all.  Good luck!
