Question 1

Could this be used as a replacement for an internal SATA drive in a desktop PC running Windows 10 64 bit? (Core i7 2600k processor, about 5 yrs old)?

It would work fine.  These drives are a little noisy though so you will hear it seeking sometimes.  Personally, I'd look at a SSD for the operating system and use this drive as a second drive to store your files.  Several advantages to that method...  way faster, easier to reinstall OS if you need and not loose your files, easier to backup OS only if you want.  A small 120ish SSD is very affordable these days.

Will this work in a Synology DS216 + II NAS system?

Most defiantly!  I'm using these in two different Synology DS systems and they work great!   I have them in a mirror RAID so I don't loose my files if one fails but they have been running perfectly for almost a year now.  I have the Synology run SMART test once a week and these drives are still looking good on sectors.  I had Seagate drives in them before and they kept failing the SMART tests after about a year so I switch over to the HGST and have been super happy with them.  They are a little louder (seeking noise) than other drives but it's not unbearable or anything.

Does tihis drive come with amy software that Will let this drive  work with win xp and its limitations on the 2 tb max ?

Unfortunately no. That's a limitation of XP being a 32-bit operating system, and you don't want 64-bit Windows XP. Just don't go there. If it is possible with your hardware upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit, which will support this drive capacity.
