Not sure I understand your question.  The drive has a USB 3.0 interface and when used with a USB 3.0 port it has impressive speeds for an external drive.  The drive will also work with older USB 2.0 ports - the drive is backward compatible  however the transfer speeds will be slower.

Hello, I am trying to use this drive for recording audio sessions in Garageband and Logic Pro. I just got it today and I would like to view what I have backed up so far. How can I see what's on the the drive so far ?

Thanks Robert, yes , I know that's the way it works for windows. However, I am using it on a mac which doesn't have that option. I looked in / system preferences and there is no indication of new hardware. As a matter of fact the icon is in my dock but, for some reason it has a question mark on it.

I don't know if it's Mac compatible, I bought mine as an Xbox One storage device. I don't see why it wouldn't work, just have to format it.

Not that I have experienced. I also use it only as a drive and did not use the software that came with it.

Would this unit be recommended for storing recordings from a DVR?

It is a fast drive and should work fine for a DVR.  I would suggest a larger drive capacity, however.  Also, most DVR's only have a USB2.0 port, so you wouldn't get the speed of this unit's USB3.0 port.  See if your DVR has an eSATA or a USB3.0 port and go from there.

Internally, is it a standard SATA hard drive (with standard SATA connector)?  I wonder if I can use it as an internal drive on a PS3. Thanks!

It's USB 3.0. I'm using it as my primary drive for my Xbox One because you can't replace the internal drive.

Its about the size of a cell phone.  Pretty light weight.  I like it a lot and use it for back-ups.

I'm debating between this and a Western Digital My Passport Ultra. I can't tell which will be faster with upload and download speed. Any suggestions?

I haven't used the Western Digital, but this one is pretty good. I use it to archive pics and other things I do not want to lose.  If that's all you're using it for then it will probably work for you.  I am a fan of WD, so that would be a good purchase as well.

16gb of cache?  If you mean 16GB of RAM well it depends on the software and what type of video you are editing.  16GB of RAM and a good CPU and GPU again depending on the software.
