Don't know about 6 TB, but I currently have a RAID 5 array of 4x drives, 4Tb each.  Works fine.  Would expect 8x drives to work.

Nice "feature" of the 4520: it doesn't have the bug its predecessor, the soft raid 2720 card.  With the 2720, if you wanted to do a largish array (4 drives 3 TB each and larger), you had to manually reserve about 50GB from the "full size" of the array when creating it. Otherwise, write speeds would be about 15 MB/sec!

4520 does NOT have that issue.  You can create the array full size and all works as expected.

Suggestion: if you get the 4520, you might want to put a fan on/near it.  The onboard (H/W) raid chip gets quite hot (screenshot of software from HPT's site shows temp 64 degrees (C) - with a fan, I'm between 50 and 56 degrees (C).)
