My SAS drives are rated 6GB/sec this says 600MB/sec, the other SAS drives are rated at 3GB/sec. Why is this rated so low? If that really is the speed, why not just stick with SATA?

This card is rated at 600 Mega BYTES/sec (capital b), whereas the very confusing SATA 6 Giga BITS per second (lower case b). Since there are 8 bits in a byte, you'd expect 600MB to be 4.8Gb, but in SATA land, there are 10 bits to a byte, because the link uses 8b/10b encoding, which expands every byte to 10 bits. Wikipedia has a good article on this. So 600MB is exactly equal to 6Gb, on a SATA link. (big big, vs little b)

Will this support LTO tape drives?

I'm not sure, this only has internal ports and I used it for a disk array. They have a compatibility matrix at their website I think.

Will this product work with the newer Windows operating systems i.e. window 10, windows server 2012 r2 and possibly windows server 10?

Yes, it will work with Windows Server 12 and 10.
