I can't answer your question because I installed the card in a custom built machine. On the other hand I am a computer tech and have a lot of experience with computers of all types and I see no reason why it wouldn't work in a dimension 4600. In reference to how good it works my aunt isn't complaining yet.

Yes, I have this on a multi-boot system that runs both Windows XP and Windows 8.1.  Additionally, the HDMI audio functionality works under both operating systems.  For Windows 8.1, use the built-in drivers; for Windows XP, I used the drivers available from ATI.

For the HDMI audio, there are drivers available for download from RealTek, as the audio chip is actually a RealTek chip.

Note that if using the HDMI output, you will need to remove the scaling.  In XP, this is via Catalyst Control Center; in 8.1, this is a registry hack, since Catalyst Control Center won't be installed.

Unfortunately, this won't let me post a link, so this info may not be as helpful as it could otherwise be.

Question 3

I installed the Radeon HD 4350 in my Dell 4550 (OS-WIN XP) and there is no video out.  I put the old Video card back in and it works fine.  Any suggestions?

First; is the new card firmly seated in the slot? Second; did you load the video drivers that came with the card? I recommend you remove all previous GPU drivers before installing the card. You did not mention if you had simple VGA output when you boot up. If you can't see the computer POST or any screen on boot up, and the monitor is on and working, I would suspect that you may have a defective card.

I am a professional system builder, and you can't begin to imagine the number of times I thought the monitor was on, and it really was not, or it had transitioned into the sleep mode.

I realize this also sounds absurd, but double-check that the monitor VGA cable is fully inserted into the video output connector on the card.

I hope this points you in the right direction.

I am running XP Pro in all my computers, the one this card was put in is XP Pro with SP2 on a Gigabite motherboard. I am using it to feed my 32" LED LCD TV. WORKS GREAT PICTURE AND SOUND are running threw the HDMI cable

WILL THIS CARD OUTPERFORM A 7950GT AGP???

Hi..my 4350 card does everything that I need it to presently and runs quiet as well as fairly cool even under pressure. Only one program that was created in 2006 has a small problem when turning up the graphics to high end needs. This card isn't able to keep up but it still allows minimum performance when the graphics need to be at their very highest in value, but again.....thats only one program out of many and I use the internet for Earth science research including many moving p[resentations, computer simulations, charts, graphs, videos, etc.

Color and sharpness are great and theres ample ways to re-adjust if need be.

For now I don't have a need to upgrade again and am happy with my choice in this 4350 series card. The price was the best from Newegg as I shopped a long time to find a good deal.

I can't advise about the card you are asking about since I've never owned or used one. Sorry.

being a 64 bit card will it work on a win/7 32 bit ?

It will definitely work with 32 bit operating systems.  Those 64 bits mentioned in the product description are different from the CPU bits.  But don't take my word for it; check AMD's website for Win7 32bit drivers for this card. :)

The 64 bits on the card refer to the width of the memory interface, which is self-contained on the card.  As long as your system has a 4x or 8x AGP slot (and doesn't violate the AGP spec like some Dell systems), and you have a driver, it should work.

Can I  use this card to replace Ge force fx 5500?

The first thing I should tell you if I am not an IT person, this is more my hobby. With that being said the fact that Your video card is AGP 8X, leads me to believe if you look up your motherboard the slot should be in AGP 4X/8X. That means to me that both cards are physically interchangeable. Without knowing your computer I can tell you this I am using my video card on a 9 year-old gigabyte motherboard with 4 GB of DDR RAM memory and my CPU is also about 9 year-old, P4 with hyperthreading. It is being used with the operating system XP Pro and working beautifully. I am feeding both audio and video through the HDMI Cable to a 32 inch LED LCD television. The card supports 4x AGP, so the answer is "probably".  A few systems, Dell systems in particular, have compatibility issues with this card.

Other than that, you don't provide much information to go on.  It's usually a good idea to include the exact model of your system or at least motherboard (because this interfaces directly with the motherboard).  Also include the exact operating system version for driver compatibility questions.

The package only specifies up to Windows 7.  I am using it in a Windows 7 unit with no problem.  The issue will be the drivers.  The drivers included in the package on the disc were not sufficient for Windows 7.  I had to get drivers online.  If you can find drivers that specify Windows 8 I believe it will be fine.  I'm sorry but I don't remember exactly where I downloaded the drivers from.

How do you install this product, because all of the reviews I have read make me feel like this product is hard to install?

Physically it is very easy to install, just like any card. However, I found that it is incompatible with Dell motherboards, which is bizarre, and is very particular about which other brand motherboards it will work with. I ended up installed it on 3 different branded motherboards before it finally worked on an MSI brand motherboard. Then I ran into some other software glitches, which could have been compatibility issues, but I'm not sure if they were related to the card or not. In the end, I ended up just buying an entire other system with a good graphics card already installed that I knew worked. I've tinkered with and installed hardware on computers many times before, but this was by far the most difficult install.
